It gets raucous and rowdy right from the start of the show, as this week Columbus punk rockers MethMatics invade our studio with music and beer. Crystal Price, Byron Weaver, Joey Yates, Billy Spitfire and Chris Cox brought six tracks from their as yet unreleased album and a bunch of cold brews. Just like punk rock, the show is loud and fast. You will hear stories about the music, the legendary Bernies venue, The Damn Yous, The Stalinists, Joe Viers, Sonic Lounge Studios, Joel Treadway, Cringe.com and so much more. Joey takes us down the rabbit hole with talk of masturbation, fleshlights and an anatomy lesson… of sorts. It gets weird with a twist of fun…

On this special 30-minute edition of the show, we did the show “live” in front of an audience at Ruby Tuesday Live for the Columbus Covers Columbus 2019 festival. Our special guests for this episode is the self-described BBQ Rock Band Courtney From Work. It’s amazing how much ground we cover in half the time of our usual show. The conversation ranged from Four Loko and “ballin’ on a budget” to the origins of their name. We discuss their discography and play their latest single. You’ll even hear what local bands get these guys excited.

This week, After-Death Plan joins us in the studio with four tracks from their brand new album, Psycho Social Sexual. Lesley and Constantine join us for stories behind the music, a few laughs and more. It’s cerebral music that will bore directly into your soul. The album was released on January 15 and is available locally at Lost Weekend Records.

This week, we’re joined in the studio by Jeremy Siegrist, Lynne Siegrist and Jeff Brogan of The Typical Johnsons. They’re a band that cannot be pigeonholed into a tidy little box, as they incorporate many elements into their wonderful sound. Place in a bowl The Drive-By Truckers, Neil Young and Frank Turner. Then sprinkle in some Marshall Tucker Band and you’ll have a glimpse of the vibe they exude. We have a hunch that they’re going to breakout on a national level… They traveled from Minster, OH to share the stories behind their songs, how the band formed and Jeremy is put on the spot to give all the fans a nugget of information they don’t know about the band. It’s a jam-packed, fast-paced show that chugs along at warp speed.

As we get ready to close out 2018 and look ahead to 2019, we welcome Columbus singer-songwriter Matt Monta into the studio. As both a solo artist and member of Matt Monta and The Haymakers, his music channels the best of Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen, to name but a few. You’ll hear how he made the decision to quit his day job and pursue music full-time as his chosen career. You’ll get the stories behind the songs and share some laughs along the way.

Once again, it’s that time of the year when we invite Josh Kibbey of Kibbey Context into our studio to share with all of you his list of music that stood above the crowded aural landscape. This year’s list comprises the 2018 edition of the 25 Artist of Kibbmas and touches on many genres from within the musical community that vie for a spot on this annual countdown. 2018 marked the fifth year of the 25 Artist of Kibbmas list, and is the second consecutive year that Josh Kibbey has brought the list to us, to be premiered exclusively on our show. With 25 bands vying for the top spot, the decision on where they each would finally place on the list was a hard one, according to Kibbey. And again, with so much music to play, we had to double the length of the show to bring you the list in its entirety. Yes, my friends, that means you get a jam-packed two hour show filled with a ton of aural pleasures and very little talk. We hope you enjoy the twists and turns as we countdown the list to reach the coveted number one spot.

We guarantee that no animals were harmed when the beats started dropping, as audio decomposer and mix/mastering engineer DJ Ginsu stopped by. A 20-year veteran of the local club scene and award-winning DJ, he’s been working overtime between djing and audio engineering for some the best in the region. We talk about how he got his start behind the turntables, his work with local event production company My Best Friend’s Party, partnering with DJ Carma in the group Ghost Gardens and more. You’ll hear music he’s produced himself and songs from artists he’s worked with as an mix/mastering engineer. We also touch on his time spinning the music for Ladie’s 80’s Nights at Skully’s over the years, plus we surprise Ginsu during the show…

We’re honored to welcome Lou Poster of Drift Mouth into the studio this week for an hour of deep talk, music, stories and more. Combining elements of Rock, Country, Americana and the anger of Punk, the music of Drift Mouth appeals to a wide swath of music fans. Poster writes songs that are as real as the West-by-God-Virginia soil upon which he tread as a young boy. He relates the genesis of the music that were a gift to his father, which would eventually lead to the formation of the band. You’ll hear stories from his West Virginia youth to his eye-opening arrival in Columbus twenty-three years ago. We talk about living in dog years, working at the arguably legendary venue simply known as Bernie’s, his time with Grafton, what makes Drift Mouth work so well and the uphill battle to gain traction aurally. The music is fantastic, as well, with four tracks from their recently released debut full-length album Little Patch Of Sky.

This week, Jeff Tobin of The Jeffs joins us in the studio for a fun-filled show full of music, stories and more… Jeff’s unique take on everyday things that occur within all of our lives take on new meaning with the way that he tells each story through song. He relates the gypsy traveling life that he’s lead, which eventually found him settling in Columbus. We have a bit of a surprise for him, playing a song that has elements of Tom Waits, Charles Bukowski and local band Javelina, too!
