This week, Columbus pop-punk band Yesterday Kids joins us in the studio. They released their debut EP, All Too Familiar, on December 30, 2017 and we really dig their sound. We play a few select tracks from it, get the backstory on the songs and how the band came into being. They brought craft whiskey from a local distillery to enjoy during the show, and we absolutely love it! Plus, we find out how they managed to get the use of the local distillery as their practice space…

To kickoff the new year, Lew Walter of The Ragoons joins us in the studio for the first episode of 2018. In addition to playing a few songs from various albums, we get the stories behind the songs, delve deeper into the sound of the band, talk about rock operas and so much more. With a “Black Swamp Earth Rock” vibe, they have a sound that is unique in the local scene.

We finish the calendar year of 2017 with a special two-hour episode of the show! Josh Kibbey of Kibbey Context Entertainment joins us in the studio, presenting “The 25 Artists of Kibbmas” with music throughout the show. It’s the first time he’s done his annual year-end wrap-up this way, and we’re excited to have you hear all of the wonderful bands and music in this show!

This week, Columbus singer-songwriter and 2014 Ohio Music Award winner Lisa Gain brings her Americana-flavored and intensely personal musical storytelling to the show as she joins us in the studio. Having played as a solo artist for 20 years, she now is producing solid music as part of a trio. Throughout her songs, you hear the pain of real life issues, all the while embracing a deeply hopeful spirit that breaks through even the most somber of her lyrics.

This week, Kelsey Hopkins and Michael Furman of Gold From Grief join show host Rick Gethin in the studio ahead of their debut EP release show on December 15 at the Big Room Bar. They bring the Delta Blues flavored with a slice of the Midwest to The Cat Club Podcast.

They also talk about the awards the film has won on the independent film festival circuit to this point and more screenings of the movie in Columbus.
