The Four Stages Of Competence (via Wikipedia)

Conscious Incompetence - The individual does not understand or know how to do something and does not necessarily recognize the deficit. They may deny the usefulness of the skill. The individual must recognize their own incompetence, and the value of the new skill, before moving on to the next stage. The length of time an individual spends in this stage depends on the strength of the stimulus to learn.

Conscious Incompetence - Though the individual does not understand or know how to do something, he or she does recognize the deficit, as well as the value of a new skill in addressing the deficit. The making of mistakes can be integral to the learning process at this stage.

Conscious Competence - The individual understands or knows how to do something. However, demonstrating the skill or knowledge requires concentration. It may be broken down into steps, and there is heavy conscious involvement in executing the new skill.

Unconscious Competence - The individual has had so much practice with a skill that it has become "second nature" and can be performed easily. As a result, the skill can be performed while executing another task. The individual may be able to teach it to others, depending upon how and when it was learned.

She was first, had a first 4A in the Network Marketing with a health and nutrition company. Started with homemade booklets and brochures and built massive success from the ground up before this whole internet thing ever came about. She’s been a stay at home mom and marketer for the past 12 years. And since expand, has since expanded into affiliate marketing, information marketing, training, coaching, speaking and more. Diane: Thank you. How do you know I haven’t updated my website in a while. It’s been 14 years actually. I have not updated my site. I’ve been too busy doing business to play with blogs and, yeah, so.

Brian: I didn’t, that’s when you hire people.

Diane: I have though, I just keep forgetting to tell them. You have to direct them, you know what I’m saying.

Brian: I, I definately know the feeling. I think I remember, mentioning one of your videos about virtual assistants, and . . .

Diane: Yeah.

Brian: working with a VA, in the same way that you would work with a prospect. Is that you have to educate. But . . .

Brian: So, you’ve become, I mean, really just a powerhouse in the industry. I mean, you’re very vocal, you’re very education oriented. You teach people,

Working as a nurse and office manager, Judy Boger had consistently come across the multi-level marketing industry and never found herself in a position to say 'yes' to an opportunity. It wasn't until 1992 that, while living a very comfortable life, she found herself looking for extra income to put her kids through college. Starting her business by focusing on retailing the products, it was when her customers began to ask if they too could earn income doing the same that it all clicked. Judy worked as a nurse, an office manager, and a skiing coach before discovering Multi-level Marketing through a company called Nikon in 1992. She has since reached their top rank of royal diamond, built an extensive business around the world, and helped many other people to achieve similar success. Thanks so much for being on today.

Judy: Good morning, or, good afternoon, whatever the case may be.

Brian: So, I, met you ages ago, and every time I see you or even hear your voice you just make me smile. And, I just, awesome for so many reasons, which I’m going to try and highlight throughout the interview. But, tell me a little bit more about how you went from, you know, nurse, office manager, skiing coach, to a successful Multi-level marketer.

Judy: Well, it’s kind of interesting because somebody came to my office who was being prospected by another Network marketer. And, I had been prospected for years, to have people try to get me into either this business or that business. And, I just didn’t want anything to do with it. But this guy happened to hit me at the right time. I had one son in college, and an expensive school. And another son getting ready to go to school, and so I was kinda looking for some way to make some extra money. I didn’t wanna take college loans out to pay for the boys’ education. So, I was, in fact I was starting a jewelry business. I thought, you know,

Just months after moving 2,000 miles across the country to take a job at a newspaper, Adam Chandler found himself in a difficult situation. Far from the support of family and friends, he was laid off as the newspaper closed its doors and forced to seek an alternative source of income in a hurry. Finding an advertisement on Craigslist, Adam was extremely skeptical of an opportunity that promised teaching him how to make money online. Jumping in feet first he learned as much as he could, but that education came at a price. Learning from his mistakes, Adam pushed himself out of his comfort zone and went from his $19K salary to making $100K in his multi-level marketing business within just two years and now teaches others to do the same in their businesses.

Adam moved 2000 miles to take a, 2000 cross country from Burlington; which is where we are, out west, to take a job at a newspaper a few years ago. And a few months later, they closed their doors and he found himself without a job. He found his first Network Marketing company, jumped in, made mistakes, learned some awesome lessons, and in two years he went from getting laid of from a $19,000 a year job, to making over $100,000 in his MLM business. He is a snowboarder, trainer, educator to the industry and a rather awesome guy. Thank you so much for being on.

Adam: Hey, thanks for having me Brian, I’m excited about this interview.

Brian: So, I was, I mean, excited, the whole Vermont thing and the world is tiny, and all that jazz. And Vermont is tiny in general. But, so when you got started, I mean, you didn’t know that you were getting in Network Marketing. You didn’t have, you know, any mindset around it. And you definitely kind of, you know, needed the help, you needed a solution to your problem. But, you know, it wasn’t all uphill. I think a lot of people see leaders like yourself kind of standing on stage and they think, oh, you know, I could never get there. And the reality is that, you know, everyone starts kind of in a very similar place, and especially mindset. So, can you tell me a little bit about how, you know, you said in a, it was in your bio that you spent $10,000 over four months and made $40 in commissions. Tell me a little bit more about that. Ah, crap.

Adam: Sure, sure, let me just back up just a, for a minute. I mean, when I first moved, you know,

Fresh out of college with no business experience or rapport, Jessica Higdon felt that she had to find a way to prove herself and establish credibility before she could become successful. It was not until later that she realized the limiting belief of being "too young" to achieve this was entirely self imposed. With that realization, Jessica built her champion mindset and got to work creating massive success. Once a shy kid from New York City, Simon Chan had made a conscious effort well into his college career to remain a fly on the wall. Still able to land his dream job out of college, Simon begun putting his heart and soul into his position with the National Basketball Association (NBA). After eight years of hard work and dedication, his dream job didn't seem so dreamy. Simon began looking for a way out and eventually found a connection with the freedom of the multi-level marketing industry. Offering customer service, telemarketing, lead generation, online marketing, virtual assistant services, chat support, email support, and much much more. He’s also the author of Virtualbusinesslifestyle.com where he documents his journey. Has been featured in Entrepreneur Magazine, and is just a really hilarious awesome guy. A self-declared underachiever throughout his college years, Justice Eagan had yet to find something with which he was truly able to connect.
