Jeff Johnson, a true legend of American media, public affairs, advocacy, and organizing sits down with Don for a wide-ranging discussion on Jeff's years as a college athlete and student body president at the University of Toledo, to his time with the NAACP as a youth organizer, the Million Man March, BET's Rap City,  the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, becoming an executive producer of his own BET show ManCave, and most importantly, fatherhood.  This is the first episode the Caucus Room ever recorded, and it's such a long discussion that we made it a two part episode.

Jason Kander sits down with his old state house roomate Don Calloway to recall his early beginnings in the Kansas City organizing scene, his days as a State Representative, his remarkable and unlikely rise to being the youngest statewide elected official in the country as Missouri's Secretary of State, to his historic run for the United States Senate in 2016, and why he pulled back from electoral politics to focus on his mental health and family. Jason and Don talk what it takes to be a successful legislator, the nature of the glare of politics changing from the local and state level to the federal level, and who he thinks is next up for a star turn in national politics. This episode was recorded before President Biden left the 2024 presidential race, and Vice President Kamala Harris becoming the Democratic nominee for President.

Don and STL political veterans Mike Jones and Jason Rosenbaum of St. Louis Public Radio break down the epic and contentious battle for St. Louis' congressional seat between U.S. Rep Cori Bush and STL County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell. Nick J.
