  • Bonus Episode: Dr. Phil on Quiet Quitting

О Боже! Not unlike Kevin O'Leary's napalm on LinkedIn about quiet quitting, Dr. Phil has weighed in on the subject. On Thursday, 9/29, the episode "Quiet Quitting: Lazy Employees or Taking a Stand?" hit the air waves and it featured people on both sides of the topic, including Attorney Ryan who has become a social media sensation on this issue.

    Key topics:

✔️ According to Dr. Phil, "quiet quitting is bull."  So is he right? Or not?
✔️ Are there people who advocate for quiet quitting while they're working their tails off? Are they giving you bad advice? 🤔
✔️ Is this just more generational clickbait? Trust me - Xers heard the same message of "Y'all are just a generation of slackers" all through the 90s. I was there and I remember it.
✔️ An entrepreneur on the show talks about running her business and the passion she has for it. But see, that's the thing - is it realistic to expect an employee to have the same level of commitment and buy-in that YOU have for your own business? No, it's not. That's not to say they should do nothing at all, but that the company owner ought to have realistic expectations.

    Key topics:

    ✔️ ICYMI news, 10/3 - 10/7.
✔️ CBS News is telling you outright that The Fed wants to crash the job market and increase unemployment. Please, please do not ignore this info.
✔️ Housing prices are set to decline across the country. I'd love to print that article out and mail it to every arrogant realtor and broker I encountered last year who INSISTED we would never see a decline in prices ever again. 😒
✔️ FB is reportedly doing PIPs and quiet layoffs. I told ya so!

  • They. Want. You. Back.

    Cue N'Sync here.

Oh, the treasure trove that is Fortune.com these days. Yesterday, they published an article titled, "Bosses admit they’d start with remote workers during a layoff. How to make sure it doesn’t happen to you."

IMO, we're moving from the dress rehearsals to the opening night of whatever this economic 💩 storm is about to be. Corporate America is emboldened and they know what's coming down the road. Ya know, things like layoffs, hiring freezes, PIPs, and a demand that you RTO. I have warned you about this for months now.  So many Americans live paycheck-to-paycheck and have personal debt. I find it hard to believe that in a recession, most people will be able to say, "Hell no, we won't go" for very long. I'm not saying it's right - I'm just telling you reality as I see it.

  • ⚠️ Crashing the Job Market ⚠️

When CBS News reports that The Fed wants to crash the job market and INCREASE UNEMPLOYMENT, it's worth taking note.

"With an additional million or two people out of work, the newly unemployed and their families would sharply cut back on spending, while for most people who are still working, wage growth would flatline."

In other words: a lot of people will be unemployed and those who still have jobs will see their wages stagnate. IMO, you have a window of time to prepare for this reality and being naïve about it is not a great idea.

  • Bonus Episode: Is America full of bad behavior?

And if so, is it really because of the pandemic?

Not to let us down, Fortune.com gave us another gem: "The ending of the pandemic is revealing an America full of bad behaviors, in and out of the workplace."

    Key topics:

✔️ Is this even true? Is it true that the end of the pandemic has revealed an America full of bad behavior?
✔️ And if so, is it really because of C*v!d, or is it because people are stressed out by inflation and economic uncertainty and they're mad as hell? 🤔 You put people in a hot summer with prices exploding and you're gonna get a pressure cooker.
✔️ Things I do not miss: offices, cube farms, long commutes, the digital panopticon, business lunches at bad restaurants, schmoozing sessions, etc. We need to stop this narrative that Gen Z is the only generation that doesn't want RTO. Get real.
✔️ So... once we're "officially" told than unemployment is not at 3.7% with 2 open legit jobs for every 1 unemployed person, do you really think Corpo America and fat cats are gonna care about workplace morale and mental health? Really?  This is like the idea of "do gooder fatigue." LOL.

  • Saturday Broadcast 18

    Key topics:

    ✔️ ICYMI news, 9/26 - 9/30.
✔️ Russell Brand is moving his content to Rumble. I predicted on Saturday Broadcast 16 that he'd be slapped down and censored soon. Happened even faster than I thought. (And yes, I finally got a hype man to announce my accurate predictions. 🤣)
✔️ Home sales cooling, wages not keeping pace with inflation . . . some of the goofballs who tried to deny the reality of bubbles and artificially manipulated markets are gettin' awfully quiet now.
✔️If we can't coax you back to the office, we'll tell you that you'll be outsourced and made obsolete for staying home! 😒

  • When Does Optimism Become . . . Cruel? 🤔

Where is the threshold for when positive thinking and optimism become toxic? Or perhaps worse than toxic - downright cruel ?

    Key topics:

✔️ Lauren Berlant's book Cruel Optimism.
✔️ What if a dream of "the good life" is actually holding you back from living a good life? Or what if the promise of that good life is totally bogus?
✔️ "An attachment to a significantly problematic object." That's how I felt about my real estate quest and why I decided to strategically quit.
✔️An interesting argument is made for méconnaissance  causing us to project certain traits onto other people or things only to discover they may or may not have those qualities after all. We can see this in relationship hopping, job hopping, love bombing, political hoopla and rah-rahing, etc.

There are a couple of places where I had cellular interference with the microphone. Sorry!

  • Bonus Episode: "Scam Frameworks" & Hopium

Recently, I read the article "Why Successful People Don’t Teach Success: Gurus, income experts, and business coaches preach personal success systems" by Jim Clair.  Unfortunately, some of these personal success systems don't actually help you achieve that success... they mostly just take your money and leave you empty-handed.

    Key topics:

✔️ Con artists use a formula. We can see this in many cases of snake oil salesmen and pyramid schemes.
✔️ Some of these gurus rocket to the top with a gimmick and then find themselves bankrupt almost as fast. If their system truly worked, why would that happen?
✔️ Can you really  work a four hour work week and make a living wage? Does anyone still believe that anymore?
✔️ In his article "Tim Ferriss's Scam Framework and the Rise of Fake Gurus," Pete Williams calls out the model of fake expertise that he believes Ferriss advocates for in his book. He also calls out the model of starting a business to not run it - essentially just starting a "hollow enterprise."

  • Saturday Broadcast 17

    Key topics:

    ✔️ ICYMI news, 9/19 - 9/23.
✔️ It's funny that these cities are telling people to have bug out bags but then at the same time acting like "nothing to see here, no big deal, no need to worry." What?!
✔️ It's also funny that the "pandemic is over" once Corpo America wanted everyone to RTO and sit in the Cube Farm again. What a coincidence.
✔️ I warned you about weaponized PIPs and performance reviews earlier this summer. Now we're here.

  • Why I Quit the Free and Low Cost Platforms

In my 🔮 Prediction Alert: We Will See More Rip-Off Artists episode from September 8th, I talked about: "Jean Anouilh said, 'What you get free costs too much.' Touché. Sometimes what you give for free also costs too much." In this episode, I will pull the curtain back and discuss why I chose to quit the free and low cost platforms. As always: this is not advice. Just me opining for your entertainment only.

✔️ Why I unpublished my free educational courses.
✔️ Why I unpublished my Patreon page.
✔️ How I used the Pareto Principle to regain more time... and sanity!
✔️ The idea that if you give the whole candy store away for free, it will automatically draw people in and gift you with paying customers, has not been highly accurate in my experience. Sometimes it feels more like you are pushing things out at a financial loss. Not to mention the time drain involved.
