✔️ With more and more layoffs and hiring freezes, do you really think  unemployment is less than 4% nationwide? Cuz I don't! There's a lag between what's happening in real time versus what gets reported.
✔️ It's getting more important than ever to be strategic about who you are listening to and where you're getting information. Personally, I'd be careful of toxic positivity and people on LI telling you, "This is fine. Everything is fine. It's all OK." Uhhh, is it tho?!?

I guess it didn't take as long as I thought it might for the WFH Window to start closing. Yikes.

✔️ Elon Musk blew up the interwebs after a leaked email re: no more WFH if you're with Tesla or SpaceX. He didn't even wait for a full-tilt recession or major market contraction. He just blazed the trail for everyone else.
✔️ People can zone out in a cubicle at the office just as easy as they can zone out at home. If someone is determined to do the bare minimum, do you think they can't cheat the system in a Cube Farm? Get real.
✔️ One form of toxic company culture is punishing everyone for one or two bad apples in the group. Make everyone suffer, buuwaahaahaa!
✔️ Caveat emptor. Pay attention. Stay alert.

Recently, the BBC published an article asking: "Is the ‘remote work window’ about to close?" Certainly, this question merits investigation.

✔️ To me, 100% remote should be exactly that: 100% remote, 100% of the time, 0 exceptions. Be sure you read the fine print of anything you sign!

People like influencers, gurus, and self-helpers can leave you broke. Even though they may promise you that if you spend money (sometimes money you don't have) on their programs, you will become rich and famous, 'tisnt always so.

Key topics:

✔️ What is the actual criteria of an "influencer" anyway? The barriers to entry seem pretty low.
✔️ LinkedIn has become a hub of fake pathos, outright lies, self-aggrandizement and humble-brags. I would be leery of anyone who promises to make you millions of dollars solely by using LI.
✔️ Psychopathic manipulators have 0 issues with taking your last dollar. And they will do it if you let them.
✔️ Don't be blinded by a large number of likes or followers. These interactions can be bought and they can also be bots. (No pun intended.)

I recently received some viewer mail from a person trying to make a decision on whether to keep going with a decision or call it a dead-end. It's not always easy to know if you're in a temporary dip or at a full-on impasse.

Key topics:

✔️ With my own real estate quest, I realized, "This is nucking futs. But the market will change." FOMO is not your friend, generally speaking.
✔️ Treating anything like it's the last lifeboat off the Titanic is usually a bad omen. Whether it's a relationship, job, house, etc.
✔️ Strategic quitting doesn't always mean you totally quit and walk away forever. Sometimes it can mean that you put your own best interests in first place and you wait for a more favorable situation to arise. Waiting is not always a dirty word!
✔️ A rejection or a delay is sometimes a form of protection. "Not right now" can be a means of keeping you from jumping off a cliff without a parachute.

What is quiet quitting? And why do I think we will see more of it in the coming months...

✔️ Quiet quitting ≠ ghosting. They sound similar but are different things.
✔️ If layoffs and hiring freezes continue and we start to see a recession taking shape, I believe we will see more quiet quitting essentially out of financial necessity.
✔️ Sometimes in life, we have to do what the crisis demands. And that's OK.

Throughout The Great Resignation, the market has rewarded job hoppers more than job stayers. While that may be lucrative, you still need to look before you leap.

✔️ Do some research. That new job with the flashy paycheck? Yeah, it might be a toxic cesspool.
✔️ Unless it's a newly created position, someone left the role you're about to step into. It's worthwhile to question why they vacated.
