Welcome welcome WELCOME. It’s another brand spankin’ new episode of The Certified Platinum Show (or CPS for short). This week, we bid a heartfelt farewell to the great DMX, who impacted the world in such amazing ways. Being a symbol of “reformation”, he truly showed the world what it was to live in Christ through everything that you do. We will remember his impact forever.
Sean “Diddy” Combs wrote an open letter to General Motors this week, expressing his disgruntlement for the way he feels that Black people are treated by large organizations that have no intention of reaching a hand back. Diddy was met with both praise and criticism, as his message was fogged by some people’s view on his own business dealings. This spawned a conversation involving good business vs. bad business, and whether the music industry should contain a Code of Ethics that should be followed to ensure nobody is taken advantage of… (12:25)
The shoe company “MSCHF” will be recalling the Lil Nas X “Satan Shoes” after reaching a settlement with Nike. The company announced that they have achieved the “artistic intent” of the shoe announcement. Quite evident here that no matter what, when Nike comes knockin, everybody answers… (20:35)
Kid Cudi shocked America this week, when he performed on Saturday Night Live, wearing a floral dress designed by, ya boy, Virgil Abloh… The guys all felt indifferent about the artistic messaging for all their own reasons, and it sparked many conversations in the crew that some might even consider… were “on the edge”...(22:55)

Thanks for tuning into another episode of The Certified Platinum Show. This week, we dedicate our episode to Earl Simmons (DMX), who is reportedly in critical condition (at the time of recording). DMX is an individual in the hip-hop space that is synonymous with “reformation”. He endured a period of trials and tribulation, particularly involving drug usage. He began to turn his life to God and went on to proclaim God’s word. Although his battles with drug usage continued, DMX continued to prioritize his faith and use it to spread positivity to his fans all around the world. We continue to pray for him during this time, as well as all others that are experiencing poor health conditions during this pandemic.
Southside (record producer, 808MAFIA) has been in the news this week involving online altercations. Initially it involved Lil Uzi Vert, where Southside had some opinions with the way Lil Uzi Vert was speaking to the mother of his child, Yung Miami of The City Girls (Caresha Brownlee). Shortly after, Southside seemed to undergo a family dispute online between him and his father. Unfortunately things got messy, proving to be another bad example of hashing out family disputes online… (22:00)
From this point forward, I think it's safe to say that rappers should not take elevators… Stairs seem to be a safer bet, and this was evident when footage was released of Quavo and Saweetie in a physical altercation. Luckily nobody was hurt, but it goes to show that relationships may not be all that they are portrayed to be on social media… (31:46)
Rod Wave revealed that he was supposed to be featured on Lemon Pepper Freestyle, the third hit record on Drake’s “Scary Hours 2” project. RodWave reveals his reasons behind telling Drizzy that his verse couldn’t go… (36:29)
