  • Why A Technology Detox Is Important At Midlife
How would you feel if you left your mobile phone at home? What would happen if you didn't post on Facebook or check your newsfeed today? How many emails or texts have you sent today when you could've made a phone call?
Since technology has come on the scene, none of us have been given guidelines for how to use it or what impact it has on our physical, spiritual, mental and social health. I'm noticing that lately, many people are talking about how technology is getting in the way of these things and rather than making life easier, it's tending to make us feel less than efficient, more stressed and overwhelmed.
In this week's episode I explain how to identify technological overload, why some of the negative symptoms of too much plugged in time play havoc especially with women over 40 and give 13 ways to introduce some form of taking a break from the digital world into your life.
I hope you enjoy and would love to know your thoughts. When you're not detoxing - send me an email at susanpaget at g mail dot come or like me on Facebook.

  • Even When It's Hard - Don't Quit On Your Life's Purpose!
You know that song that goes "You gotta pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again"? Well when it comes to living your life's purpose, no one ever told us that this could be a reoccuring theme.
But it is and you must.
In this week's episode I share a slice of my own experience with this when I had one of those days yesterday - a day, that in any other time in my life, I would've up and quit on myself. It was that bad. But I also remembered that this is all part of the ride of living your purpose.
I think, if you're trying to live your purpose, but it feels like you're just banging your head against a wall, this ep might give you the courage to keep going. Don't give up your dream as the crummy days do pass - and in fact, they've got lessons for us.

  • How To Break "Rules" That Hold You Back At Midlife
    Are you a good girl?
Do you say "yes" when you really mean "no"?
Do you feel frustrated, trapped, ready to explode?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, there's a good chance that the rules you've learned as a young child are colliding with change you want to make at midlife.
In this week's episode, I explain how to recognize whether traditional and possibly dysfunctional rules are preventing you from moving forward and explain how to challenge these beliefs in functional and sustainable ways.
And here's the great quote I refer to in the podcast:
"The most dangerous risk of all is the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later"

  • "Get Back on The Horse" - Starting Over At Midlife
Welcome to the first episode of The Change Guru for 2014!
Happy Year of The Horse - and speaking of years, how are your New Year's resolutions going?
If you've fallen off the horse of the goals you've set - AWESOME!
    That's right - I said AWESOME!
In this week's podcast I share why getting off track with your goals is actually a fantastic way to reach them.
I learned this first hand last month while flashpacking through Asia. While everyone in the world seemed to be focusing on goals, I allowed myself to completely backslide on mine.  See the pic? That's me off the horse (and on a table hula hooping)   during a river tubing break in Vang Vieng, Laos.
Falling off that horse was totally intentional for me.  I needed to step away and review what was really important in all aspects of my life and rather than feel guilty about it, or beat myself up, I was able to get to a point where I wanted to get back in the saddle and start again. I was excited and focused.
A lot of us have an "all or nothing" approach to our goals, as in,  if we screw up or take a break from going after something we really want, it's over and done. But success in anything is not a linear path. It's hills and valley and side steps and all of them can have the same purpose, to help us move in the directions of our dreams
If you're ready to stop feeling guilty about "falling off the horse" in any area of your life, you'll like this podcast.

  • You Can Enjoy Being Alone At Midlife
How do you feel about being alone?
Do you worry about being judged? Do you feel like you need to be in a relationship to validate your existence?
    or
Do you relish being alone? Do you see it as an opportunity to elevate yourself and your potential?
In this podcast, I share 10 dynamic ways to reset your thinking when it comes to solitude. Whether you're in a relationship or not, being alone is something that all of us must come to terms with at some point in our lives, but rather than seeing it as a last resort, it's time for us to perceive this as a chance to come home to ourselves.

  • Career Transition At Midlife-Should You Go Back to School?
    It's exciting. It's terrifying.
Many of us at midlife are facing the extraordinary circumstances at midlife of transitioning careers or getting into our own business for the first time ever. It's "extraordinary" because this is just something that generations above us never did. Women over 50 who were in the work place were looking at retirement at this age. But for us? No way! This truly can be the start of professional lives that are aligned with our true purpose.

But where to start? In this episode of The Change Guru podcast I share one of the challenging aspects of career transition and that's ensuring our skills are up to scratch. I'll be sharing an honest account  how I've made a midlife career transition and offer alternative ways that might resonate with you.

  • You CAN Write A Book At Midlife
Ever wanted to write a book but worried you don't have what it takes?
Ever looked at books and wondered how the authors were able to achieve the mission?
I sure have and in this podcast, as I get ready to release my first book Be Your Own Change Guru - The Ultimate Women's Guide for Thriving at Midlife I want to share with you 5 key things I learned along the way that took the mystery out of book writing and showed me the possibilities. Somehow I weave in a review of the first ep of the return of one of my guilty pleasures, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. But trust me, even if you're not a fan of these midlife mavericks, it all fits in together.
The housewives franchise is a perfect example that all of us have a great story. If yours is sitting inside you - don't you think it's time you share it with the world?
