Rich gives his insight on the Texans vs. Jets matchup.

At the beginning of today’s show, Charlie acknowledges the University of Houston basketball team’s most recent win against LSU, leaving UH cougars undefeated at 9-0\. He explores the notion of why there’s not so much hype around the UH cougars being undefeated despite playing better than the Rockets. Charlie gives his take on Charlie Morton departing from the Astros to the Tampa Bay Rays for a 2-year, $30 million contract. He also recaps the Toronto Raptors recent win against the Golden State Warriors, giving the Raptors taking top position in the league. Charlie gives his take on the upcoming Rockets games against the LA Lakers.

Charlie starts the second hour joined by sports writer Phil Steele via phone to discuss the latest in college football and the upcoming college bowl games. Phil also gives his picks on who will win in the different bowl games, including Georgia Southern against Eastern Michigan. Charlie closes the hour reviewing the comments made by Texans Bill O’Brien on facing the New York Jets in their upcoming game.

Charlie is joined by sports writer Phil Steele via phone to discuss the latest in college football and the upcoming 2018 college bowl games.

To start off the show Charlie talked about some possible off-season moves for the Astros. Switching to football, Charlie discussed the current NFL playoff standings, and the Texans road to the AFC championship game. He continued, talking about the surprisingly 8-0 start for the Houston Cougars. Charlie asked, “Are the Rockets back,” or will they be a lottery team? To close the first hour Charlie mentioned A.J. Finch, and the top free agents in the baseball.

The start of the second hour Charlie started by talking about the possibility of a Lamar Jackson versus Deshaun Watson playoff matchup. Who would be a better playoff matchup for the Texans, Los Angeles Chargers or the Baltimore Ravens? Charlie continued with some NFL talk, as he discussed the lack of playoff success for the Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. Ken Hoffman of Cultural Map and the Washington Post joined Charlie to talk about a plethora of topics, started with who will take the fall if the Rockets continue to struggle. Also, to close the show Ken and Charlie went off on the second class that will be inducted into the Houston sports Hall of Fame this year

Charlie starts the first hour addressing the snooze-fest that was the Monday Night Football Game. He turns to NBA news, including the Rockets’ desperation and their possible interest in JR Smith. Then he moves on to the Texans game against the Jets on Saturday and what needs to line up for them to be seeded higher. He dives into the new playoff standings after the Seahawks vs. Vikings game and the horrible officiating that affected the outcome. Charlie turns his attention back to the Texans and Deshaun Watson’s progress. He ends the hour with updates on the second day of the MLB winter meetings

The second hour kicks off with Charlie discussing the Seahawks vs. Vikings game and the poor play by Kirk Cousins. He looks at other teams in the NFL and what needs to happen in order for the Texans to stay on top of the division. Then he turns to LeBron’s dominating performance against the Heat and former teammate Dwayne Wade. He dives into the Rockets’ mistakes and their upcoming game against the Lakers.

Charlie starts the first hour diving into the Texans’ close loss to the Colts and their remaining games. Then he pivots to the Rockets’ less than stellar season which took another hit after losing to the Mavericks. Charlie goes back to the Texans and takes jabs at Jadeveon Clowney for his unprofessionalism. He discusses the other games around the NFL and how their outcomes could affect the Texans’ playoff run. At the end of the first hour Charlie talks about the Dolphins’ Miami Miracle.

Charlie kicks off the second hour giving the Rockets the verbal beating they deserve after blowing another game. Next, he talks Kyler Murray beating out Tua Tagovailoa for the Heisman Trophy. He shares his issues with the Baseball Hall of Fame and their selection process. Charlie turns to last night’s two big NFC matchups and discusses whether or not the Cowboys can keep the ball rolling. He quickly comments on day one of the baseball winter meetings. Then he goes back to Sunday’s NFL games, Patrick Mahomes’ amazing arm, and Saquon Barkley and his great rookie season. To round out the hour he goes through the Texas teams players to make the AP All-America Team.
