On this episode of The Cheshire Cast with Corey and Tricia we introduce you to first time guest CT Radio Personality Kerry Collins, a familiar voice from The River 105.9. Kerry paints a personal picture of what his journey has taught him about finding happiness and success. He takes us through a couple of his detours as he highlights the importance of pursuing doing what you love despite life’s challenges. There may be a bit of teasing and laughter thrown in there too, I mean, you know….

You can listen to Kerry Collins between the hours of 5a-10a on The River 105.9 where he plays popular rock from the 60‘s - today.

On this episode we welcome Chair of the Cheshire Board of Education, Tony Perugini. We try to cover the vast unique responsibilities of the Cheshire Public Schools Board of Education as they try to make budget, staffing, facility upgrades, emotional/physical health of staff and students, cultural diversity, and staff health care decisions all under the umbrella of a national growing health pandemic. Just WOW. These are elected officials functioning on a volunteer basis to get it done. Listen in, get involved, and be a part of our increasingly successful school system that adds so much to our community health, growth, and not to mention property values. Now is the time to check out the plans for School Modernization, it’s happening, the more community input in this stage the better.

On this episode of The Cheshire Cast, Corey and Tricia speak to Doug Levens Director of Community Development at the Cheshire location and Jay Jaronko Executive Director of the Southington YMCA. We get an inside glimpse into how they have navigated the ever changing landscape of Covid safety measures while trying to remain an invaluable resource to the communities they serve. They are currently preparing for their annual fundraising event “The Sloper Plunge”, where teams of brave citizens jump into the 🥶freezing water🥶 of Slopers Pond in Southington CT to raise money for the hugely popular Camp Sloper summer camp scholarships. This year the scholarships will be more important for families than ever. A feel good episode for sure. Our (My) apologies in advance, The Village People may get brought up ten times too many...Corey🙄, our guests handle it like pros, you can tell they work with children for a living.

This weeks episode Cheshire Cast is doing what it does best, highlighting an invaluable community member, Realtor Phil Giampietro. Among many other things Phil is CT’s number one Homes for Heroes affiliate. Through this program Phil has given back over $100,000 of his own commission directly to qualified home buyers. Do you qualify, is it available where you are… listen in to find out. We also discuss the realities of the home buying boom and the effects of working from home and  urban flight during the pandemic on CT communities and their limited real estate supply.

Everyone gets something a little different from our show, including us. If you find yourself starting to feel familiar with your hosts, whether you know us in person or through this show, this rare episode without a guest (Tricia’s fault) will not disappoint. In this week's episodes listen in and laugh as we get a glimpse into a day in the life of 2020 as depicted through kitten rescue as Christmas surprise and the pandemic doldrums. Comment somewhere and let us know how you are doing during the dog days of Covid. As always if you need help, any help at all, reach out, there is always someone ready to lend a hand.

If you’ve been feeling anxious or stressed about COVID19 lately, it's okay. Consider visiting the “Emotional Wellbeing During the COVID-19 Outbreak” page for some resources to help you cope during this time.

This weeks episode focuses on the immense task being taken up by Cheshire’s own School Modernization Committee. Our guests  Jennifer Bates & Richard Gusenburg try their best to map out for us the scope of the need, the myriad of complications being worked through and a few initial options being worked on at the moment. The time has come to invest in our aging school facilities as our students and staff soar in prestige and academic achievement. It truly takes a village, but will enough citizens rally to make it a reality this time around, one thing is for sure, our schools need us to advocate for the improvements. Get involved, share ideas, contact the town council, listen to this podcast…..vote.

This weeks show veers back to more serious matters as we tackle the topic of education in the time of Covid. Our guest, Dr. Jeff Solan Superintendent of Public Schools, once again sits with us to share some good news about recent amazing academic achievements, inclusion programs, and the continued virus spread mitigation efforts. We discuss, in depth, the down side of the incredible ask of our students and schools. One thing is certain, when this thing is over, and eventually it will be, we have asked of them the impossible, and educators are, as usual, working it out.

In this week's episode we take a welcomed break from the serious and delve into hobbyist Sheraz Bhutta’s inspiration for his infamous car, “Booty Patrol.”  Find out what it’s like to live the booty car life. Be prepared to laugh and find out how his mom has grown to tolerate his creative outlet while he grew a legion of Instagram followers. Is this misogyny or pop culture? Regardless of what you decide, if you don’t like it, feel free to look away from the crowd gathered around his car getting Instagram worthy pictures of their… well, you know…
