We all know that the algorithms on social media platforms play a major role in how our content is distributed. Every platform has a different algorithm so it can be tough to know what types of posts have the best chance to be pushed out.  By having insight as to what is currently working can make the difference between our posts making a bigger impact.

  There was a time where likes and views were the most important, but that no longer seems to be the case.  Currently the 3 most important factors are engaging comments, shares and watch time. Having a lot, or any or all of these elements can result in our posts being pushed out by the algorithm and reaching new audiences.   
 
 So how do we create content that gets engaging comments, shares and watch time? I spend a lot of time researching social media marketing and a consistent thread through many different experts say that the most sharable posts are either inspirational, motivational and/or educational. The goal is to figure out how to create posts that are all of these things but focusing on one is a great place to start.

  On this episode I wanted to take a deep dive into this concept. In many cases you are already doing this, but may just need to reframe the way you present your posts on socials to get maximum impact.

On this episode I had an inspired conversation with my friend Aryn Michelle. Aryn is an artist and songwriter based out of Texas and has a wealth of wisdom on being a modern indie artist. From figuring out how to balance being a wife, mom of 4, to writing and releasing songs, all while building a fan base who is supportive and engaged with her music.

 On this episode I had a great conversation with my friend Caleb Crino. Growing up in a Christian home Caleb earliest memories of music were of popular worship and CCM songs. He took his passion for Christian music and eventually ended up at the prestigious Belmont University in Nashville, Tennesee. 
Caleb learned so much but said some of the most valuable things he experienced at school were the relationships he made.  These relationships lead him into incredible opportunities working with heroes in the Christian music industry. Caleb discusses how these relationships brought him to where he is today writing, releasing and producing his own brand of Christian music. On this episode I had a great conversation with Nashville based singer/songwriter Madeline Edwards.  I first heard Madeline's song “The Road” on Spotify’s Top Christian playlist and was instantly drawn in. On this episode Madeline's gives us insight into the process of her song from the writing, production, to marketing.
 She also shared some vulnerable moments and how she feels the pain she’s faced in her life is now her responsibility to share through her music. On this episode I had a great conversation with my friend good Sophie Lockhart. Sophie is a worship leader, songwriter and artist based out of Pennsylvania.  Sophie is a very skilled writer in multiple genres and on this episode we talked about how she continues to be creative while writing songs for the church, CCM and also in the singer/songwriter/folk genre. Last year she launched Parker Street which is more worship focused and continues releasing under her own name as well.

 As songwriters, one of the biggest goals we can have is to get our songs cut. Getting your song “cut” simply means another artist records and releases a song you wrote or co-wrote. Not all writers want to be the artist and sing on/release the music they write, so getting cuts is a great outlet to getting their songs heard. 

But how do we get songs cut and what steps can we take to get our music in front of artists and/or music publishers? I wanted to give a framework on some of the steps. Cuts can happen at many different levels, from indies to majors, and following a process can be a helpful way to give your song the best chance of being cut.

On this episode I had a great conversation with singer/songwriter/producer Tenia Hoskins. Tenia has been following God's call on her life for music since she was 5 years old. With a huge support system from her family and husband, Tenia has always has been encouraged to keep going through the many seasons of the journey. 
After a try out for American Idol and The Voice not going as she hoped, she took that as an opportunity to pivot and keep going. Tenia has always been aware of the gifts and talents God has given her and she continues to seek out every way to give Him glory through them. Tenia has taught herself to produce her own music and has now started releasing music that is making a real impact in peoples lives. I loved hearing the determination and grit in Tenia's story and I know you will be inspired too!

 On this episode I had a great conversation with my friends Abraham and Nate from the band Chasing the Light. I love the passion and vibe these two brought to the interview and their music. Although they have gone through many changes as a band, they have always kept the main thing to aim to bring glory to God through their songs and lives.
