Matthew 9:9-13

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. Follow me, he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners. On hearing this, Jesus said, “it is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.

This week we are following Jesus’ example of being secure in His role. In network marketing, the roles get fuzzy. Our mom is on our frontline. We are attempting to make a sale to our close friend whose car just broke down. And this wears on us. Yet Jesus, He led his brothers. In today’s business tip we will talk a little about how to acknowledge the awkwardness and to keep the varying roles from making us crazy.

Jesus was secure in His role. How do you feel about your role? Sales. We sell a product for a commission. No matter what your company has titled it for recruiting purposes it is sales. In today’s business tip, I’m simply going to outline your role and your job responsibilities once we get to the place where we are ok with the fact that we are in sales.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. We love, because He first loved us.

“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.  We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.  By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.  We love, because He first loved us.”

We will be focusing in on just two words: “We love.”  Lots to say about those two little words.

I John 4:17-19

Fear and joy cannot co-exist. Learn this simple neuroscience trick that makes you physiologically incapable of feeling fear.

What would it look like to have love applied to your fears?  This passage indicates our fears cannot co-exist with love.  Let’s pray and ask God to apply love to those places of fear.

Yesterday, Kim challenged you to talk to God about what you are actually afraid of. As a sales coach, when I talk to my students or clients, I hear this fear a lot: I don’t want people to feel like I’m pressuring them. So let’s not pressure them.
