Yesterday at the Citrix Launchpad: Cloud event, we heard some exciting announcements around our App Delivery and Security Service, service continuity, Citrix’s value-add benefits for Azure Virtual Desktop, and more. We also heard about two exciting new technologies that are currently in preview — Citrix Provisioning (PVS) on Azure and Citrix Image Portability.
Citrix Image Portability service dramatically simplifies and streamlines the management of images across platforms, which facilitates managing images between an on-premises resource location and one in a public cloud, like Azure. Citrix Provisioning has been a beloved Citrix technology for over a decade. It’s is a streaming technology that delivers OS images including applications, patches, updates, and other information to virtual and physical machines. PVS used to be a technology that was exclusive to on-prem customers. During the Citrix Launchpad: Cloud event, we announced PVS on public cloud, which is currently in preview.

One of my favorite things about being on the product marketing team is getting to tell the Citrix story, which is always evolving. With the steady stream of innovations, new features, and improved processes, it’s a pleasure to tell organizations about the latest and greatest in all things VDI and DaaS and how they help solve real-world challenges.
These past few months have not disappointed when it comes to new features and improvements. From the release of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 2109, to updates to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service, there is plenty to talk about. Let’s take a closer look at everything that’s new in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.

Citrix and Nutanix have enjoyed a long-standing partnership spanning over a decade. From the early days of Nutanix’s pioneering work in the hyperconverged space, it was clear that their approach of consolidation and simplification aligned well to running Citrix VDI environments efficiently and at scale. Numerous customers around the globe trust their mission-critical workloads to Citrix and Nutanix every day — customers like JetBlue Airways, Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, educational institutions such as Coleg Gwent, and across other vertical industries including healthcare, legal and more.
Today, Citrix Cloud services on Nutanix unlocks the possibility of true hybrid and multi-cloud use cases. It starts with Citrix Cloud as the management plane for the Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service, Citrix Gateway service, insights with Citrix Analytics, and other services — all delivered on-demand across the GEOs. Nutanix provides the underlying hosting and orchestration fabrics for the workloads — whether on-premises with AHV or in a public cloud like Azure or AWS. The flexibility to shift workloads among public and private clouds, coupled with linear scalability, gives customers the predictability and confidence they need to succeed in this highly unpredictable economic climate.

We get it. You’ve been heads-down, holding down the IT fort over this past year making sure all the newly remote workers can access their apps and desktops. Maybe you’ve been managing Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops for years (in fact, you might know it by its old name “XenApp”). And then somebody up the chain upgrades your subscription to Citrix Workspace Premium Plus.
So, now you’re probably left wondering just what is that, and, more importantly, what do you do with it?

Two words: zero ransomware. According to my recent guest, Richard Achee of the Chrome OS Technology Partners team at Google, there have been ZERO reports of ransomware on Chrome devices. That’s right!!

At Citrix, we are focusing on delivering tools to help organizations and individuals be more productive, no matter the device, location, or time. We work continually to evolve our current capabilities and to develop new ones. We want to ensure that customers have the most reliable and frictionless experiences possible, repeatedly.
Recently, our teams have added new features and solutions associated with some of our most popular services. These are designed to improve the hybrid experience. Let’s dive in and take a closer look at what’s new with Citrix Workspace for August.

In this podcast we reviewed
This is a guest blog post by Dr. Chris Marshall, Associate Vice President, IDC Asia Pacific. You can connect with him on LinkedIn.
The last 18 months has been blighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. With countries hesitantly coming out of lockdowns, perhaps it’s a good time to ask what we have learned and what it means for enterprise technology and, more importantly, for the people who use technology in our enterprises.
If I had to summarize what IDC has learned from our clients from COVID-19, it might best be captured in two words — DIGITAL RESILIENCY. With digital transformation (DX), digital underpins every aspect of the modern enterprise. This is often ignored in traditional approaches to business resiliency, which typically focus on safeguarding distinct enterprise functions or businesses on a piecemeal basis. It is also often ignored by standard IT risk management and disaster recovery practices that safeguard specific IT assets and resources. Both perspectives typically downplay the critical business capabilities supported by DX that cut cross organizational boundaries. Both are often purely defensive.
By contrast, digital resiliency can be defined as the ability of the enterprise to not only restore essential business capabilities but also capitalize on the changed conditions to bounce back even better than before.
