Rev. 2:8-11

Welcome to week three of our summer sessions at CMBC! Join us during the summer months as we unravel and explore the letters to the seven churches in the book of Revelation. This 9-week series will begin with a message unpacking the definition of Church, and end with a concluding message examining the relevance of the Church in this age. In between, we will observe what Jesus affirms, and what Jesus redirects in each of the seven churches in Revelation. How can the Church faithfully image and reflect Jesus in this our current age?

This week is the conclusion of our series through the wisdom literature of the Old Testament; "Deeply Rooted and Overflowing." We close our series with one final time of corporate study in the Song of Songs. We are in the final chapter of the Song (8) exploring appropriate responses to love.

Song of Songs 3

We will explore both the tensions and triumphs that are a part of love and consider the layered imagery and figurative expressions within the song. Finally, we will name and celebrate the greatest love available to us, Jesus.

Ecclesiastes 12

Today, we conclude a 3-week miniseries through the book of Ecclesiastes. As we read and explore chapter 12 today, we will discover what our author identifies as, "the end of the matter." Wouldn't it be nice to be able to make sense of and keep a proper perspective on life's greater purpose and deeper meaning, even as we age? Age sometimes has a way of making us feel useless or ineffective as we seek to follow Jesus. Today, we are reminded that there is something greater and deeper to live for, no matter our age! As long as we are breathing, we have a clear and abundantly meaning-filled purpose.
