  • An Unfortunate Fall (Exodus 32) - audio
Today we embark on a new leg of our journey through the book of Exodus. The events of chapter 32 are difficult and tragic, God has just made a covenant with his people, a covenant which they affirmed and agreed to participate in. When Moses delays in coming down from the mountain, the people choose for themselves to stray from the commands of God, and form for themselves their own image of a golden calf. An idol they quickly begin to worship and sing to. As we reflect on the events of this portion of the narrative, we ask why idolatry is such an attractive and comfortable pattern of behavior for the people of God? What is at the heart of idolatry? And where do golden calves still exist in our culture and world today? Join us as we explore the unfortunate fall of the newborn Israelite nation in Exodus 32.

What function(s) did God assign the law to perform for the people?

Pastor Chris Lenhart of Calvary Monument Bible Church
We take time this week to explore and examine the concept of grief and mourning. What does Jesus say about those who mourn? Does our God truly understand the layers and complexities of our grief and pain? And how might we walk with those who are mourning and have experienced loss? Resting in Matthew 5:4, and examining other relevant scriptures, we will uncover hope and comfort for those who are mourning.

Next, to teach, train, equip, and inform our congregation of the many opportunities and challenges that are currently present in gospel ministry around the world. Then finally, to motivate, challenge, and inspire any who attend to participate in local or global gospel ministry.
