Welcome to episode #292 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional!

In this episode, we start off with the topic around gaming on old consoles, and some of the struggles that players who want to game on these old consoles will be experiencing as support and services continue to ramp down to nothing, particularly with the PS3. This leads into a talk about games that may go extinct due to the playstation store shutting down on the PS3, and no sign of these games being playable on the newer consoles. We then shift to the main topic which has been our zombies grind, as we work our way through completing the easter eggs to close out the game. With Ashes of the Damned now complete, we give our opinions on the map, and our hopes for what’s to come with the rest of the maps BO7 has to offer. We then close out with some massive news in the rostermania world, as dominos are finally starting to fall with these teams making decisions. The biggest one being that FaZe look to be picking up both Scrap and Hydra for the 2026-27 season alongside Simp, and a current vacant spot for their 4th, as negotiations continue. We share our thoughts on this superteam being formed, and what this means for the competition level for next year.

In this episode, we start off with some stories regarding old games that we now revisit, and the time capsule that they have ended up becoming. With these old games there’s typically issues with the discs themselves, and we share some stories and thoughts on this, as it relates to the ongoing physical media discussion with Xbox and Sony. Xbox has developed a decent workaround in response to the backlash from Sony, and the question still remains; will Sony budge on their stance? We then shift to talks regarding Call of Duty, and the issue of fatigue with the series and potential solutions. With many content creators writing off MW4 before launch, it begs the question if COD is in need of a major change, and what does that exactly look like. Do they take a year off? Do they completely change the style of the game? We give our thoughts on what their next moves should be, and close out on covering our BO7 zombies journey. We are slowly working through the storyline, and give our thoughts on the experience so far.

Welcome to episode #290 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional!In this episode, we cover our final week of the MW4 beta, and it has been one to remember for the right reasons as compared to week 1. Infinity Ward has been listening to the feedback, and many of the initial complaints have been addressed. We go over these major changes/adjustments that have been made, and draw the comparisons between the first and second weeks. With MW4 now on the right track, the question still remains as to what still needs to be worked on, and if this game is still in danger of being a failure with the fans and community. We give our thoughts on some of the big changes that still need to be made, and some other quality of life changes that we feel will make it more sustainable in the long term. Finally, we close on the news regarding the Boston Breach and the new ownership the spot is taking, with M80 coming in to now be the Boston M80 team, and we are beyond excited for this new chapter for Boston in the CDL. The future looks bright for this team, and we give our impressions and hopes for this team going into MW4. What did you think of week 2 of the beta? In this episode, we break down weekend 1 of the MW4 beta, as it is finally upon us after much anticipation. We go over the main points that have been a major point of contention for the playerbase, and then talk about what Infinity Ward needs to do in order to recapture some of the fans that have parted ways with the series. We discuss whether it’s simply series fatigue, lack of innovation, or that our age group has moved on from gaming altogether or to other games. This comes off of the lower than normal player count on the beta, and some issues that even after weekend 2, still persist. We give our overall thoughts on what the game’s potential is, and what we think it will end up looking like at launch.

We all have our own hot takes about the game that we spend so much time playing, and whether it’s about the playerbase, the direction of the game, or fan-favorite opinions that you don’t agree with, they’re always a fun topic to have a discussion about. We each give our three hot takes, and explain why we feel that way, and open the discussion up for you to give your thoughts on how we back up our claims. Some are more tame, while others for sure are going to be tough ones to take. In this episode, we start off with the continuing discussion around Sony’s move to end physical disc manufacturing and sales starting in 2028, and the continued backlash they have received from this. What we felt was maybe something that would blow over with time has grown into a massive movement where players are banding together to show Sony they will not support them, especially after their lackluster response to the fan outrage. We give our thoughts on the power of the influence we have as consumers, and what potential changes we could see from Sony if people vote with their wallets and do not purchase the PS6. This leads into a bigger discussion about the future of console gaming, and what Microsoft and Sony will have to do to stop people from moving to PC. Finally, we close with our EWC recap, covering the biggest moments, and get into the insane rostermania that has already kicked off only days after the BO7 season has ended.

In this episode, we have a discussion regarding the news that there is interest from organizations to buy the Boston Breach CDL spot for next year. Though this has not officially been confirmed, and most likely not until after seasons end, we see this as a massive move with our connection to the Breach, as well as an important move that will showcase some of the issues with the CDL format regarding teams, budget, and talent. We discuss some of these systemic issues that have created this massive divide in team funds, and therefore talent opportunities for these teams to compete and make the league more competitive. There is a strong likelihood that we could see a revolving door of teams moving into this spot in the future if an org that does not have strong funding comes in, and this would be at the detriment of the players, the org, and of course the fans. We give some of our thoughts and solutions to this issue, and what we think is most important for orgs to be focusing on in order to help their brand and players. Finally, we close with some talk regarding our BO7 matches, and the continued issues that we have seen regarding the matchmaking.

In this episode, we start off with a discussion about moving to PC, as we get more information regarding the next generation of consoles, and the price comparison between them and PC. The move is becoming more likely, and we discuss the options going forward, as gaming becomes more and more expensive. We then move into our season 5 ranked experience, and the troubles with teammates voting to quit and chalking up the match. We talk about the problem with the modern COD player, and if the players today give up more than those in the past, and how the matchmaking does not support this in either ranked or pubs. Finally, we close with the debate over the open vs classic matchmaking system that is being floated around for MW4, and being taken from the original matchmaking system used in BO2. We discuss the pros and cons of having separate matchmaking systems, and talk about why we moved away from a system that never seemed to have problems in the first place.

We give our thoughts on the grand finals, and what this now does for the landscape of players within the league. Along with this, we cover the highs and lows of the remaining teams, and some of the controversy that has now led to a debate within the league, all in the hopes of achieving a consistent and fair game. Finally, we close with covering the MW4 gameplay that has been long awaited, and all of the pros and cons that have come from creators who got to play and those who have been analyzing. We give our thoughts on what we’ve seen so far, and shift towards a talk around adapting to the new CODs every year, and the importance of doing this to keep getting better as a player.

Welcome to episode #283 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional!

In this episode, we continue the discussion regarding the continued success of the BO1 and BO2 ports, as they continue to hit record numbers of concurrent players and sales, topping GTA VI as a trending game in the PSN store. This comes as no surprise to us, but the question is how long will this last? We give our opinions on the success of these ports, and if they will rival the MW4 playerbase. If this is the case, the path for Call of Duty going forward looks much different than anticipated. Does COD lean into these ports for the future, or do they simply take the feedback from these games and apply it to future titles? We then move onto a quick overview of the season 5 roadmap, with a fan favorite map returning that we feel just came a bit too late in the year. We give our thoughts on this, along with the connection between these fan-favorite map releases and them being used in the CDL, as it could make the competition that much more exciting. We close with our COD Champs predictions, as we come down to the arguably the biggest and most prestigious event for the players to win.
