The film club this week gets its day in court. The lads look at one of Netflix’s newest releases ‘The Trial of The Chicago 7’. This courtroom drama follows the legal proceedings that ensued after the notorious Chicago riots of 1968. We see star performances from the likes of Eddie Redmayne and Sacha Baron Cohen to name but a few and are shown some of the downright unconstitutional methods used by the court to achieve a guilty verdict for innocent men.

The film club tries to fight the devil all the time in this dark psychological thriller starring Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson and many more

In post WW2 rural Ohio we encounter a number of characters ranging from the sinister to the sincere and witness how their vices, religion, lust and anger weave an interconnected web of violence and tragedy which touches all corners of these small towns. The story centres on young Arvin (Holland) whose devoutly religious father struggles after returning from the war leading to a series of tragic episodes which follow the young man.

Pattinson, Riley Keough and Jason Clarke flesh out a strong ensemble cast for this grim American morality tale.

Sailors at sea seek for guidance from the one beacon that will show them the way, 'The Lighthouse'.

Ephraim Winslow (Robert Pattinson) takes a job as a wickie on an island looking after a lighthouse with an elderly man, Thomas Wake (Willem Dafoe), who has been there for most of his life. Upon his arrival Winslow suspects something sinister and strange is going on and as the film progresses, things do not become any clearer. 

Robert Eggers psychological thriller takes the viewer on a journey of mystery with thought provoking interactions between two characters that are very different but also very much the same.

The film club moseys back into town with the Mel Gibson comedy western "Maverick"!

Bret Maverick (Gibson), Annabelle Bransford (Jodie Foster) and Marshall Zane cooper (James Garner) form an unlikely party as they head for a high stakes poker game. Although, there misadventures ranging from kidnappings, heists and shootouts will make this seemingly simple journey much more complicated.

A swashbuckling and light-hearted comedic adventure. Maverick is a fun and exciting film which effortlessly shifts gears from cool comedy to high octane action.
