This week the film club goes on a truly extraordinary adventure with the late Sean Connery and his League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Based on Alan Moore's graphic novel of the same name, this 2003 adventure follows Alan Quartermain (Sean Connery) as he unites various literary heroes including Captain Nemo, The Invisible Man, Dr Jekyll, Dorian Gray  Tom Sawyer t combat a global threat lead by the mysterious phantom. These Victorian avengers are swept up in a globe trotting adventure full of exciting action.

So, 2020 is over and the New Year has arrived. The lads have put together a Top Ten of 2020 (or ten each which makes it the top 20 of 2020)  to highlight some of the great music, film, TV, comics and all other things that are consumable, and chat about what made them unique and standout in what was a very different year indeed.

Ranging from comics and westerns to the latest albums and anime the lads count down everything they enjoyed in the 366 days of 2020, even if a few include the guys catching up on a few older entries.

So, it has been a strange year and we cannot get out to the big screen, the pictures, the movie house. Instead, film festivals across the island of Ireland and around the world had to go online.

In this week’s episode the lads look at some of the fantastic content that were streaming at the Foyle, Belfast and Cork Film Festivals. They discuss some of the fantastic documentaries, shorts and feature length films that the festivals had to offer.

This week the film club journeys to the wild west of Ireland, for the Irish Crime drama, Calm With Horses.

The film tells the tale of "Arm", an enforcer for the sinister Devers crime family. As arm struggles with his life with the Devers, he seeks to rebuild his estranged relationship with his son and ex. Torn between his life of crime and the normal family life he yearns for the film features a delicate character study peeling back the layers of the initially brutish "Arm".

This week the film club savours the magic hour with the 2016 anime fantasy/romance film "Your Name". Superstar Anime filmaker Makoto Shinkai's biggest hit to datet, the film tells the story of two Japanese teenagers who suddenly begin to swap bodies at random, Taki, a Tokyo boy struggling for purpose and Mitsuha, a rural girl desperate to leave her traditional home.

As the pair adjust to these strange circumstances they form a strong bond and set out to meet in person, but instead, a series of otherworldly events stand in their way.
