This time the lads conclude their long awaited Dig themed duology with Netflix's 2021 film "The Dig".

Quiet English excavator Basil Brown (Ralph Fiennes) is hired by wealthy Edith Pretty (Carey Mulligan) to excavate some burial mounds on her land as WW2 looms. As the mounds bear fruit the establishment of the historical community wrestle with Pretty for the finds and the fame. As Basil bonds with Pretty and her family and the lives of the other archaeologists including Peggy (Lily James) come to bear this dig will impact all their lives.

A beautiful and grounded period drama centred on Fiennes and Mulligan but stuffed with competing sub plots how does this dig hold up?

This time the lads try to wrap their heads around the twisty temporal thriller Tenet.

Following the mysterious "Protagonist" (Washington) who after being drafted into a shadow war waged across time by the mysterious Tenet organisation he quickly learns about inversion a technique which sends subjects backwards through time. Using and fighting against Inversion he must work with the enigatic Neil (Pattinson) and complicated Kat (Debicki) to stop a temporal terrorist attack at the hands of Russian arms dealer Sato (Brannagh).

A twisty complicated thriller that plays with time expectations and your eardrums, lets find out what the lads thought?

This week the lads argue over whether Jeff Bezos is a supervillain and why Amazon had to change up their app logo. They also try to figure out can they balance on segways, where the name came from, what are NFTs, what it would be like to spend a night in a space hotel and what has happened to the new Cyberpunk 2077 game. 

Jack and Sean also had the opportunity to have a talk with the brilliant Luke Watterson about how life is going in Germany. Luke explains what life is like living away from home during the pandemic, why he writes music, his connection with a live audience and if he could take one person on a date, who would it be.

This time the lads get their hands dirty with the 2018 Irish film, "The Dig" from brothers Ryan & Andy Tohill.

The Dig centres on Ronan Callaghan (Moe Dunford) who, upon returning from serving 15 years in prison for a murder he cant remember committing seeks to sell his family home and move on. Instead, he finds the father of his victim, Sean McKenna (Lorcan Crannitch) excavating the bog on Callaghan's and in search of his daughter's remains. Although as Callaghan tries to help him and local Gardai Murphy (Francis Magee) and Sean's surviving daughter get involved the tensions between the men rise and their dig uncovers much more than the deceased.

This time around the good ship film club continues its expidition into Jack's education in animation as the lads tackle the anime classic, the hugely influential Akira.

Based on Katsuhiro Otomo's revolutionary 1982 Manga of the same name Akira tells the story of Kaneda & Tetsuo, friends in post apocalyptic Neo Tokyo whose close knit biker gang is upended when Tetsuo gains new and dangerous psychic abilities and dangerous pursuit ensues as Kaneda attempts to save his friend whose fractured psyche and new abilities threaten all of Neo Tokyo. Pursued by his friends, fellow gifted individuals, the military and revolutionaries Tetsuo seeks the mysterious Akira, to learn the true nature of his mysterious destructive abilities.
