A few months ago I read a piece on Blavity titled, "What I Wish I Knew Before Leaving Everything I Loved Behind For A New City," by Briana Phillips. In the article, she wrote about her transition and the lessons learned from when she took the leap and moved to New York.

Inspired by former Minnesota Senator Paul Wellstone, 29-year-old University of Minnesota law student, Haaris Pasha, ran a grass-roots campaign for a House seat in Minneapolis. He didn't have enough votes to continue past the August primaries, but the experience confirmed his desire to help the underrepresented.

I spoke with Haaris and his campaign manager, Ian Taylor, about the importance of millennials running for office, how to start a political campaign, the lessons learned from the race, and why voting matters.

My college friend Aaron Saala is one of these dreamers, but he caught a lucky break when the script for his screenplay, "The Beast," was purchased for $500K. On Today's Maintainin', I talked to Aaron about navigating screenwriting and hollywood, and how he plans to use his new found fortune.

In 2017, a women in the workplace report found that minority women were less likely to be promoted than white women and men. The study also revealed that Black women, in particular, felt unsupported at work and struggled to feel comfortable.
