The Comic Book Super Show!

This Episode was recorded on November 15, 2022 - Watch the live recording now on The Superman Super Show YouTube Channel

Luthor is back, Superman fights what may or may not be a dinosaur, and Lois spends most of the story in an unconscious and/or comatose state.

All of that and much, much more as Ed and Steeven talk about Luthor's Undersea City, the second story in Superman #4, which was published by DC Comics with a cover date of Spring 1940.

I decided to have a little fun with Black Adam, the movie starring Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan.

I enjoyed the movie, I thought it was fun, and yet I can't stop myself from getting all kinds of nitpicky and pointing out all the little things that made me groan, or laugh, or slap my head in disbelieving disdain.

I hope you have as much fun listening to this as I had making it.

While you might enjoy this episode more if you watch the movie first, it is not required.

There will, however, be spoilers.

Enjoy!

Be warned before you start, there's about 12 minutes worth of banter before the fellas get into this week's Superman story. The banter includes such subject as the Batman Audio Adventures podcast, the Golden Age of Comics and it's newfound appeal for our hosts, and Ed meets Steeven's new cat.

From there it's all about Superman:

Luthor challenges Superman to three contests, one of speed, one of strength, and one of resistance to injury, but does Luthor have an ulterior motive?

Lex Luthor makes his first published appearance as Ed and Steeven talk about The Challenge of Luthor the first story in Superman #4 which was published by DC Comics and has a cover date of Spring 1940.
