(00:00-10:05) Friday was Black Friday, and now it’s Cyber Monday. Brian and Ian talked about how to find contentment during a time of year that involves so much consumerism.

(10:05-18:59) Theologian Wayne Grudem has changed his mind about whether or not divorce is acceptable in cases of abuse. Brian and Ian reacted to Grudem’s change on that issue, as well as the larger topic changing your mind as ideas change.

(18:59-28:40) At Brian’s church, the tackled the issue of Christians seeking rest while Brian himself was spending time with his family. Ian meanwhile preached about the start of the Christmas season and what that means for our search for peace.

(28:40-37:35) John Piper believes that “A life without regrets is built is on a mirage.” Brian and Ian talk about regrets in life and whether or not they agree with that idea.

(37:35-47:30) A clip of Joel Osteen has resurfaced on social media, and it brings up a question about the prosperity Gospel and also how outraged people can get over social media posts years after the comments actually happen.

(47:30-57:38) A new PBS documentary is looking at a new college program for people currently serving in prison. Brian and Ian talked about how sort of an impact that could have on people trying to turn their lives around.

(09:25-18:14): We are joined by ministry leader and author Nancy Beach. She shares her extensive history in the Church and work in the arts ministry at Willow Creek. She became a teaching pastor, and eventually became a leadership coach to various pastors and ministry leaders. She touches on the topic of ‘church pain’ and shares her experience with it as well as how to overcome it.

(18:14-26:00): Nancy sticks around to talk more about her experience with pain in the church and how she’s walked through it. She endured and experienced abuse and made the tough decision of making her statement public with her name included. She says the abuse of power is the biggest problem with church leaders.  

(26:00-33:50): Nancy closes out the hour talking about her book “Gifted to Lead: The Art of Leading as a Woman in the Church”. She discusses how, at first, being in a position of leadership as a woman was a lonely place. She will be speaking at the Restore Chicago Conference on November 2 at Judson University. 

(34:54-44:49): Liner - 222 - Evangelical Pastor to Greta Thunberg: Don't Worry, God Promised Not to Flood Earth Again. Brian and Ian talk about the movement of climate justice as well as the narrative that young activists are naive. 

(44:49-55:19): We are joined by Phil Vischer, creator of VeggieTales and the author of the “Laugh and Learn Bible For Kids”. He touches on the teaching power of the show as well as the importance of kids getting the big picture of the bible. 

(55:19-1:05:26): Phil sticks around to talk about the new VeggieTales episodes and how he aims to make it like the VeggieTales of old. Sony and Universal are picking up the show and airing it on Trinity Broadcast Network. Phil also touches on his podcast “The Holy Post”.

(47:50-57:16): Evangelicals Who Distrust Muslims Likely Don’t Know Muslims. Brian and Ian touch on the stigma of Muslim’s as Christians, but believe it’s largely linked to misinformation and not knowing them personally. 

(57:16-1:07:07): We are joined by author of “CityServe: Your Guide to Church-Based Compassion”, Dave Donaldson. Dave shares his amazing testimony of loss and compassion. He takes his story and translates compassion into serving the community, not just the church.

(1:07:07-1:13:52): Brian and Ian’s “Weird Stuff We Found on the Internet”: College student starts a small business and then gets arrested for it. The most stereotypical gross thing happened at a grocery store. Apparently the US Navy is sailing Russian warships and drugs are bad...mmmkay. Meanwhile, Dollar Tree is now selling houses.

(11:09-21:12): Brian and Ian discuss “Sciencey Reasons You Should Listen to New Music”. They talk about why after a certain age we tend to stop listening to new music. Brian says that he finds himself listening to new music because of his kids.  

(21:12-30:35): Amy DiMarcangelo writes in The Gospel Coalition “Why Christians Should Talk More Openly About Our Finances”. Brian and Ian touch on the tough topic of financial provision, transparency, and responsibility. As church leaders, they emphasize the importance of this. 

(30:35-40:35): “Evangelism Isn’t About Results” writes Sharron Hodde Miller in Christianity Today. Brian and Ian discuss the Parable of the Sower and how we shouldn’t worry about checking boxes or getting numbers in ministry. It is about being a witness and obedience to Christ. 

(40:35-51:44): Two of the president’s prominent evangelical supporters are literally demonizing his opponents. Brian and Ian discuss and listen to comments from Franklin Graham, and talk about Rick Perry’s comments as well. Why is there such a polarizing narrative between the left and the right? 

(51:44-1:02:34): Brian and Ian talk about loneliness and tie in two heartbreaking stories. The first is about a man who was found dead in his apartment, thought to have been dead for three years. The second is about an elderly woman writing a letter to her neighbors asking them to be her friend. 

(1:02:34-1:13:11): Thanksgiving is this week, and Brian and Ian discuss two Christianity Today articles.
