"Children enter school as questions marks," Neil Postman chastised, "and they leave school as periods." What is happening in the scholastic environment to crush intrigue? Developmentalists have shown that children have what is known as epistemic curiosity, a need for understanding. But when they enter a traditional school environment, their question rate drops from one every two minutes to less than one every two hours. Modern education is not inspiring curiosity; it's undermining it, silencing it. Join Dr. Dunne on today's show as we unpack the value of a question, and learn how you can stoke the fires of curiosity by utilizing the Socratic method with your children, grandchildren, college students, and employees. Learn more about CVCU's signature Socratic method at CVCU.us.
Have you ever wondered about the power of words? Not just the words we speak over ourselves and our circumstances, but about the collective power of words as a culture-shaping entity? What if words were being used all around us right now to shift ideas, to create division, to engineer a future for our nation? Join Dr. Lisa Dunne for an interview with John Brown graduate Dr. Marlene McMillan, author of Mountains of Deceit: How the Dialectic Process has Infected the Culture. When we are surrounded by mindless, dull words that sear our consciences, we lose our individuality, our capacity for personal decision making, and our liberty is at stake. "Whoever controls the language controls the outcome," Dr. Marlene says. Learn how you can apply the language of liberty instead of the language of bondage over your realm of influence. Modern education is broken, and the result has been disastrous dysfunction in our nation's youngest citizens. Join Dr. Lisa Dunne on today's show to find out what you can do to help rescue the next generation. And don't forget to register for our summer conference at CVCU.us.
In the 1960s, a phrase was circulated on public television as a result of rising crime in the city: "It's 10pm. Do you know where your children are?" The PSA was supposed to alert parents to check in on their kids and make sure they were safe. Today, the question is a sobering reminder for public school parents. "Do you know where your children are?" In today's interview, Pacific Justice Institute President Brad Dacus shares about an alarming public school trend: students in government education centers are being taken from their homes after confiding in a teacher or guidance counselor about some point of disagreement with a parent. This is yet one more example of the toxic traits of traditional education. Parents, learn more about the perils of public ed on today's interview, and find out what you can do to break free from the system. Education is broken. We can fix it. Follow Brad's work at PacificJustice.org, and join the rescue mission at AcademicRescueMission.com.
