They were all waiting for someone else: a Messiah! Christmas reminds us that God always keeps His promises. Jesus is the long awaited Savior who has come to fulfill every promise and right every wrong.

Matthew 1:1-16; 2 Samuel 7:12-17 - The coming of Jesus is the fulfillment of a promise made by God to David. Because of the sin of man this covenant could only be fulfilled by God Himself. Twenty-eight generations later King Jesus, who "will reign over the house of Jacob forever" (Luke 1:33), is born.

Matthew 1:1-2; Genesis 12:1-3; Genesis 15:1-6; Genesis 21:1-3; Genesis 22:4-14 - The story of Christmas is a story of promises being kept and hope coming to the world. As we dig into Matthew's account of the birth of Jesus we'll see more fully who He is, what He's come to do, and why the gospel is such good news!

Mark 10:35-45; 2 Corinthians 4:5-6 - According to Jesus, the way to true greatness is through serving. What if the Church of Jesus rejected the world's ideas about power and influence and followed in the way of our Master: serving and giving our lives away for the good of others?

John 17:15-21; Luke 4:16-21; Luke 19:10; Mark 10:45 - The Church is far more than simply something to attend, or a collection of programs. The Church is the body of Christ, sent into the world with a message that can change everything. In fact, this "sent-ness" is so fundamental to the church that you could say the church doesn't just send missionaries, the church is a missionary.

Philemon 1-25 - The New Testament describes the church in a variety of ways, but one description stands out among all the rest: family. The church's fundamental identity is that of sons and daughters of God. What does it look like to put this into practice?

John 12:1-8; John 5:24-25; Romans 6:13; Ephesians 2:4-6 - The idea of simplifying our lives is appealing to most of us, but it's not usually an easy thing to do. How do we decide which things to let go of and which things to hold on to? How do we say no to the things that get in the way of God's call on our lives when they're things we like? What if other people think we're weird for living differently? In this message we'll see that there is something that can happen to us that makes the answers to all of these questions a lot...simpler.

Proverbs 4:20-23; Philippians 4:8-9 - We are living in a time that is described as "the Information Age." Because of modern technology, we have access to pretty much any information we want any time we want it. While this is a good thing in many ways, there are also some unintended consequences in our lives as a result of this ever-present connectivity. The Bible teaches that there is a strong connection between the information you take in and the person you become. How should a follower of Jesus think about all of this?
