Matthew 8:14-17; Matthew 9:9-13; Acts 2:46-47 - Whenever Jesus met someone He would often visit their home later. Following this pattern, the early Church met in homes and shared their faith in Jesus and their lives with one another, and God used this tremendously! In light of this, what does it look like for a home to be truly "Christian"?

Matthew 8:1-17 - Jesus is both compassionate and authoritative. He's a healer and a king. To ignore either of these attributes of His is to miss the real Jesus.

Matthew 4:18-25; 5:1-2; 8:14-27 - Jesus doesn't just call us to affirm Him, or even to simply believe Him; but to follow Him. What does it look like when a person really follows Jesus and lives as His disciple? We'll talk about this as we dig further into Matthew's account of the life of Jesus!

Matthew 4:12-25 - Jesus' first action in His public ministry was to call a group of followers to join Him on His mission. He called people to surrender their entire lives to Him and follow Him wherever He went. This is still Jesus' way today. He calls us to give control of our lives over to Him and follow Him wherever He leads us. And... it's always worth it!

Matthew 4:1-11 - Jesus' encounter with the devil in the wilderness shows us what we can expect when temptation whispers in our ears. Satan's strategies are deceptive and deadly, but they aren't new. Understanding how our enemy operates can help us resist him as we follow Jesus in the life that is truly life.

Matthew 4:1-11; 1 John 3:8; Colossians 1:13-14 - Immediately after Jesus' baptism He goes out into the wilderness to face off with the devil. This encounter can teach us some fundamental things that help us make sense of the world we live in.

Matthew 3:11-17 - How can you know if you've been good enough, or sincere enough, or whatever enough? Knowing what we all know about ourselves, is it possible to have real peace and certainty about our standing with God? Jesus' baptism shows us what the Father thinks about Jesus AND it can help us understand what He thinks about us!

Matthew 3:1-10; Isaiah 40:3-5 - Prior to Jesus' public ministry, God sent a herald to announce His arrival. The herald's name was John, and his message was good news for some and bad news for others. For those who would recognize their need for God's radical intervention in their lives, the arrival of Jesus was the best news imaginable!

Matthew 2:1-23 - Shortly after Jesus' birth His family was on the run. A lunatic king name Herod was determined to kill Him and eliminate the perceived threat to his throne. Though Herod is long gone, there's still a clash of Kingdoms happening all around us, and each one of us must decide whose rule we will accept.

John 3:22-30; John 1:29 - When Jesus is truly the "point" of our lives we find freedom, purpose, and contentment that we couldn't find anywhere else.
