The Complete Works Podcast

We've reached the most recent movie in Jeff Goldblum's filmography, and we're getting a lot of BOSS BABY vibes from this. Probably because it's a sequel to THE BOSS BABY. In THE BOSS BABY: FAMILY BUSINESS, Jeff Goldblum joins the cast as the villain, an evil baby who wants to rid the world of parents. Will he succeed? Let's find out!

On November 12th, 2019, Disney+ debuted with a wide variety of new titles available at launch - including THE MANDALORIAN, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE MUSICAL: THE SERIES, and Jeff Goldblum's first foray into the world of streaming: THE WORLD ACCORDING TO JEFF GOLDBLUM! Each episode sees Goldblum traveling the country, going to different events and meeting different people to learn about all kinds of topics. We're talking the first three episodes of the show today, and attempting to get to the heart of why this may be Goldblum's definitive work in the modern era of his career!

This week, Mike and Mike discuss probably the bleakest movie Jeff Goldblum has ever starred in - 2019's THE MOUNTAIN, from director Rick Alverson. Also starring Tye Sheridan, Denis Lavant, and Hannah Gross, THE MOUNTAIN features one of Jeff Goldblum's biggest roles in recent years, as a doctor in 1950s America traveling from hospital to hospital to perform lobotomies on patients. Like we said, it's a bleak one.

This week - because Mike DeCriscio forgot to watch the movie we were supposed to talk about - we decided to release this short bonus episode addressing some questions people might have about the future of the podcast. We outline what the final few weeks of our Goldblum season are going to look like, plus we explain how we're going about choosing who will be the subject of The Complete Works Season 3. Full movie review next week, we promise!

If Jeff Goldblum didn't go into acting, he's always said that he'd likely become a jazz musician... well now, he's both! In 2018, Goldblum released his first album with his band, the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. It was a live album called THE CAPITOL STUDIOS SESSIONS, featuring guests like Hailey Rienhart, Imelda May, and Sarah Silverman. They followed it up with another album in 2019 called I SHOULDN'T BE TELLING YOU THIS, featuring guests like Miley Cyrus and Fiona Apple. We're talking both albums this week in a sort of shorter bonus episode, mentioning our album highlights, how music has played an important role in Goldblum's career, and our theories for why Goldblum and jazz just make so much sense together!

This week, Jeff Goldblum makes his triumphant return to the JURASSIC PARK franchise... for a brief cameo! He pops up as Dr. Ian Malcolm for a quick scene at the beginning and a quick scene at the end of 2018's JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM, a movie that we didn't really like back when it came out. But... maybe it's actually pretty good? We dig into the history of the JURASSIC PARK series since we last left off, the horror bona fides of director J.A. Bayona, and what lessons writer/producer Colin Trevorrow learned from the reception to the first JURASSIC WORLD that he applied to this one. Welcome... to JURASSIC WORLD!

This week, Jeff Goldblum is part of the vast ensemble of HOTEL ARTEMIS, a low-budget sci-fi thriller and the directorial debut of IRON MAN 3 co-writer Drew Pearce! Does the insane cast that includes Jodie Foster, Dave Bautista, Sterling K. Brown, Sophia Boutella, Charlie Day, Brian Tyree Henry, Zachary Quinto and more bring this world to life? Or is this just another mixed-bag JOHN WICK knockoff? Hakuna Matata, buddy.

You heard the rumor, right? That Jeff Goldblum is popping up in his third Wes Anderson film this week? Goldblum appears as part of the vast ensemble of Anderson's stop-motion animated film ISLE OF DOGS, in a part he reportedly recorded over the phone over the course of a couple of hours. Goldblum is joined by Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Bob Balaban, Liev Schrieber, Greta Gerwig, F. Murray Abraham, Tilda Swinton, Scarlett Johansson, and more!

This week, Jeff Goldblum joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Taika Waititi's breakout blockbuster, THOR: RAGNAROK! Goldblum plays the Grandmaster, the leader of the planet Sakarr who oversees gladiatorial fights and sometimes hosts orgies on his spaceship. THOR: RAGNAROK is often cited as one of the best MCU movies, so let's break it down and discuss why that is!

This week, Jeff Goldblum appears as the present-day Andy Samberg in the HBO Sports Mockumentary TOUR DE PHARMACY! Also featuring John Cena, Daveed Diggs, Danny Glover, Dolph Lundgren, Freddie Highmore, Julia Ormand, Will Forte, Maya Rudolph, Nathan Fielder, Lance Armstrong and more, this Lonely Island-produced special lampoons the doping craze in professional cycling. Plus, Goldblum spins around in a chair, so it has a lot going for it.
