The film is the ninth installment in The Conjuring Universe. Based on the true-life investigations of the Smurl haunting,[6] the film stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who reprise their roles as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, along with Mia Tomlinson and Ben Hardy.The Conjuring: Last Rites was released in the United States on September 5, 2025. The film received mixed reviews to positive reviews from critics, and has grossed $194 million against a $55 million budget.
