This week, we continue the magnificent philosophy offered by The Urantia Papers in Paper 160, Rodan of Alexandria. A splendid example of Urantian philosophy, it contains words that stay with you forever and come back to you in times of need. These are words that you can base your life on. "There are just two ways in which mortals may live together: the material or animal way and the spiritual or human way." "It is this ability to communicate and share meanings that constitutes human culture and enables man, through social associations, to build civilizations. Knowledge and wisdom become cumulative because of man’s ability to communicate these possessions to succeeding generations. " "Many noble human impulses die because there is no one to hear their expression. Truly, it is not good for man to be alone. Some degree of recognition and a certain amount of appreciation are essential to the development of human character. Without the genuine love of a home, no child can achieve the full development of normal character. " "...through personality association, ...does the mind of one augment its spiritual values by gaining much of the insight of the other. ...by pooling their respective spiritual possessions. ...[and] avoid[s] that ever-present tendency to fall victim to distortion of vision, prejudice of viewpoint, and narrowness of judgment. Fear, envy, and conceit can be prevented only by intimate contact with other minds. This week, we thought it would be nice, in honor of Mother's Day, to cover some of the magnificent philosophy offered by The Urantia Papers. Paper 160, Rodan of Alexandria, is a splendid example of Urantian philosophy. It contains words that stay with you forever and come back to you in times of need. These are words that you can base your life on. Here's an example: "Prejudice blinds the soul to the recognition of truth, and prejudice can be removed only by the sincere devotion of the soul to the adoration of a cause that is all-embracing and all-inclusive of one's fellow men. Prejudice is inseparably linked to selfishness. Prejudice can be eliminated only by the abandonment of self-seeking and by substituting therefor the quest of the satisfaction of the service of a cause that is not only greater than self, but one that is even greater than all humanity—the search for God, the attainment of divinity. The evidence of maturity of personality consists in the transformation of human desire so that it constantly seeks for the realization of those values which are highest and most divinely real." Here's another: "In the realm of religious experience, spiritual possibility is potential reality. Man's forward spiritual urge is not a psychic illusion. All of man's universe romancing may not be fact, but much, very much, is truth." And one more: "Be not discouraged; human evolution is still in progress, and the revelation of God to the world, in and through Jesus, shall not fail." The Urantia Book tells us that, "Philosophy is man's attempt at the unification of human experience."  Join us this week as we take a deep dive into Urantia Book philosophy. Politics is nothing new to this world; Jesus would certainly tell us that. The Urantia Book teaches that it was politics and not God's will that brought on Jesus' assasination. Judas is not the hero of the Jesus story, forcing the death of Jesus because that's what God wanted. Judas was a traitor, who betrayed Jesus to his political and religious enemies. He did so for his own political purposes. It was no secret to Jesus that the religious rulers of his day wanted him dead. They might not have sought his death so fervently had he not had this habit of telling the truth. But Jesus was truth for his generation and for all generations. And so, he cleared the temple, and sealed the determination of the religious leaders to assassinate him. The domination and control of religious leaders on this world is also nothing new. For most of history, religious leaders and political leaders have been one and the same. Religious leaders have used religion to control the populace. They dominate and control the average person with fear. Especially fear of the punishment of an angry and offended God, However, if the teachings of Jesus are to be believed, that God never existed, nor ever shall. The Urantia Book's account of the Last Temple Discourse is Jesus calling out the sinful acts of these wicked religious leaders. In short, he tells them exactly how it is, in no uncertain terms. He does not equivocate. This is the righteousness of God in action, Jesus dressing down the sinful leaders of this world. Makes one wish he would come again and do the same thing now. Maybe he will. When you hear the strength and the power of his words, it makes you want to cheer, "You tell them Master!" There is no greater story of the shellacking of the wicked in all of world literature. This week, in honor of Easter and as the world celebrates Jesus' resurrection and the promise of life eternal, we will begin the episode with return guests Zshonette and Don from The Christ Experiment. They will be here to talk about their new School of Evangelists that they launched earlier this month. The purpose of the school is to help Urantia Book students develop the art of teaching and the skill of ministry. They will briefly discuss the school and will then welcome questions from our listeners, so please be sure to listen and call in during the first half hour. The first session of the school starts May 1, 2019, and enrollment closes April 30, 2019. The second half of the episode this week will be devoted to the last two sections of Urantia Paper 189, 4. Discovery of the Empty Tomb and 5. Peter and John at the Tomb. Mary Magdalene initially discovers the empty tomb followed by the two apostles who also discover it. If you haven't heard The Urantia Book's unique and detailed account of their amazing discovery, you'll certainly want to tune in. In addition to this, we'll take time to read at least one of the accounts of what Jesus said to those he appeared to after he was resurrected. The Urantia Book explains that he made 19 separate appearance to evangels, apostles and believers after his death and resurrection. What he had to say during these appearances provides the essence of what he tried to teach them all during his life. The accounts are exquisite and his words absolutely unforgettable. One of the most memorable is The Walk With Two Brothers, Paper 190, Section 5. The message he gives to the two brothers is remarkable and sublime. [21:0.1 (234.1)] The fact of creatorship implies the fullness of sovereignty, but the Michaels choose to experientially earn it, [21:3.3 (237.5)] [Michael is] ...a Sovereign so vitally interested in his creatures, he only replied [when asked about his prior bestowals]: “I have simply been about my Father’s business. Join us Saturday as we commence a new four-part study of the resurrection of Jesus and its implications for a new understanding of his death on the cross, the meaning and value of his life on Earth, and what that means for each of us. We start with a fresh look at the meaning of the cross.  Was the death on the cross a required ransom, hearkening back to the olden practices of blood sacrifice?  An ultimate sacrifice?  What does such a dogma say imply about the nature of God?  Are such views of God consistent with Jesus' life portrayal of the love of "Our Father" for his children?  For us? Consider this quote from The Urantia Book: Mortal man was never the property of the archdeceivers. Jesus did not die to ransom man from the clutch of the apostate rulers and fallen princes of the spheres. The Father in heaven never conceived of such crass injustice as damning a mortal soul because of the evil-doing of his ancestors. Neither was the Master’s death on the cross a sacrifice which consisted in an effort to pay God a debt which the race of mankind had come to owe him. [188:4.3 (2016.8)] Why did Jesus die such an ignoble death and what new understanding might we take from his manner of dying? The great thing about the death of Jesus, as it is related to the enrichment of human experience and the enlargement of the way of salvation, is not the fact of his death but rather the superb manner and the matchless spirit in which he met death.
