In summing up our series on a Urantia based religion, we thought it would be great to actually talk about what readers and believers in the teachings of The Urantia revelation believe. The Urantia Book definitely calls those who read it to believe certain things and this week we want to explore what those tenets are. A tenet is defined as a principle or belief, especially one of the main principles of a religion or philosophy. We know that The Urantia Book provides abundant teachings for both religion and philosophy. Consider these words of Jesus, "But you who have been called out of darkness into the light are expected to believe with a whole heart; your faith shall dominate the combined attitudes of body, mind, and spirit." The Urantia Book has a lot to say about belief. After all, just reading the book is a faith adventure. It asks us to believe that there are angels and other high spiritual beings. Beings from other parts of the Universe of Universes, that could present us with a book containing amazing spiritual truths and teachings. It asks us to believe in a friendly and well-ordered universe and a benevolent and loving Father God. Some of the things it teaches us to believe are completely unique, like the fact that Adam and Eve were imported here from another world. Some of them are fairly common, like the fact that Jesus resurrected from the dead. Urantia Book students often characterize ourselves as "believers" and the book often characterizes us that way as well. So what do Urantia Book readers commonly believe? Give us a call and let's talk about it. Are there some things that the book teaches that you don't believe?  We can talk about that too. It should be a lively and interesting conversation and we hope you'll join us. "Fear not; only believe."

This week on the Cosmic Citizen we will be joined by members of the Youth and Young Adult Committee of The Urantia Book Fellowship.  The YaYA’s are fresh off of a weekend retreat just outside of Portland, Oregon, where they hosted a gathering entitled - Visioning Our Future.  We’ll talk with the rising generation about how they view their leadership roles - individually and collectively - concerning the Urantia Book revelation and within the Urantia community.     Their YaYA gathering was held two weeks ago in Oregon. It was entitled "Visioning for Our future." It was a gathering of extremely talented and bright individuals who took time for re-centering and engaging with others who strive to bring light into the world. Each attendee was asked to vision what they personally could help bring this world a little closer to light and life. Ideas ranged from having a Urantia television channel to community centers to one-on one connections. Major themes were identified, like Event Planning, Community Place-making, One-on-One Connection, Accountability and Peer-to-Peer Mentoring. You can view their individual presentations to each other on Facebook at the Friends of The Urantia Book Fellowship group page. "The destiny of eternity is determined moment by moment by the achievements of the day by day living. The acts of today are the destiny of tomorrow."  (The Urantia Book, 48:7.26) We hope you'll tune in and call with questions.

His life was so glorious and his death so triumphant that we are all enticed to a willingness to share both. There is true drawing power in the whole bestowal of Michael, from the days of his youth to this overwhelming spectacle of his death on the cross. 188:5.11.Make sure, then, that when you view the cross as a revelation of God, you do not look with the eyes of the primitive man nor with the viewpoint of the later barbarian, both of whom regarded God as a relentless Sovereign of stern justice and rigid law-enforcement. Rather, make sure that you see in the cross the final manifestation of the love and devotion of Jesus to his life mission of bestowal upon the mortal races of his vast universe. Happy Easter! This week we have a special Easter show with Tom Pirie. Tom is an ordained minister who has an amazing service and ministry experience. He ministered to homeless teens in Seattle for many years. He has had invaluable experiences with traditional churches and will bring a unique perspective to this discussion on whether or not a Urantia based religion should be established. Tom was introduced to Jesus as a very young boy by his mother and that it was her sweet and loving interpretation of Jesus' character and attitude toward all people, particularly young children, that so impressed him and created a hunger in him to know Jesus. He says he was blessed with an attitude of heart and mind which caused him to never look back nor doubt Jesus' watch care in his life. For many years, the Christian Church provided a safe and loving place to fellowship and grow in his faith, but he also grew increasingly perplexed by the Bible's mixed messages of a God who was at one time loving, and other times wrathful and vengeful towards his children. He was unable to reconcile these inconsistencies in his heart and became an earnest truthseeker, determined to leave no book or theism unexplored until he could put the pieces of the puzzle together. He found The Urantia Book on a friend’s coffee table and literally could not put it down. Now, 42 years later, after having saturated his mind and heart with it's profound narrative of God's awesome nature and creation, he is filled with a sense of gratitude and anticipation for what awaits humanity. Tom is married to his beautiful and loving wife Ruth and has two grown sons Andrew and Matthew who are both growing in their search for the truth day by day. He feels deeply fortunate to have been able to teach and minister to teenagers most of his adult life and has found the fountain of youth in the shared joy of serving and being served by youth
