Continuing our exploration of Urantia Religion, we feature two of the five partners of three amazing web based ministries: www.anointedjw.org, thechristexperiment.org and faithsonsofgod.org. If you've been to these sites you are aware of the splendid nature of their work. Zshonette Reed, and one of her ministry partners, Don Clementin, will be joining us to talk about their ministerial techniques for empowering others to do ministry. Zshonette and her husband, Allen, are skilled ministers and the creators and authors of the web sites. They hail from Southern California. Don, who is located in Boston, became their partner and is spearheading a ministry they call “Into His Harvest.” Their other two partners, Australians Janet & Andy Wilson, are responsible for the beautiful posters and artwork on their sites. All are former Jehovah's Witnesses, sincere and devoted students of The Urantia Book, and fellow workers with Michael. They refer to themselves collectively as “The Unit.” Zshonette is a writer and attorney. She earned her law degree after reading the Urantia Book, with the intent to protect and advance religious freedoms, and, in particular, to share this beautiful revelation. She and her husband use Urantia teachings to inspire others and “uplift the spiritual conversation worldwide.” Don works in the Boston area in the field of architecture. He, too, is a skilled and gifted minister who works with various churches to uplift the ideas and bring harmony with the ideals of Christ Michael. They do not promote a Urantia religion they offer a way to upgrade the world's religions with the teachings of Jesus. They have a remarkable story to listen and learn from, please join us.

Tom Pirie was an ordained minister who managed a ministry for homeless teens in Seattle for many years. He has had invaluable experiences with traditional churches and will bring a unique perspective to this discussion on whether or not a Urantia based religion should be established. Tom says he was introduced to Jesus as a very young boy by his mother and that it was her sweet and loving interpretation of Jesus' character and attitude toward all people, particularly young children, that so impressed him and created a hunger in him to know Jesus. He says he was blessed with an attitude of heart and mind which caused him to never look back nor doubt Jesus' watch care in his life. For many years, the Christian Church provided a safe and loving place to fellowship and grow in his faith, but he also grew increasingly perplexed by the Bible's mixed messages of a God who was at one time loving, and other times wrathful and vengeful towards his children. He was unable to reconcile these inconsistencies in his heart and became an earnest truthseeker, determined to leave no book or theism unexplored until he could put the pieces of the puzzle together. He found The Urantia Book on a friend’s coffee table and literally could not put it down. Now, 42 years later, after having saturated his mind and heart with it's profound narrative of God's awesome nature and creation, he is filled with a sense of gratitude and anticipation for what awaits humanity. Tom is married to his beautiful and loving wife Ruth and has two grown sons Andrew and Matthew who are both growing in their search for the truth day by day. He feels deeply fortunate to have been able to teach and minister to teenagers most of his adult life and has found the fountain of youth in the shared joy of serving and being served by youth.

For the past few weeks we have discussed socializing religion as described in The Urantia Book and whether or not it's time to do more than we have done in the past 60 years. In that vein, this week we continue the discussion with a retired Ordained Christian Minister who was mentored thru the seminary by Rev. Meredith Sprunger. God's Gumshoe, AKA GG, is a long time Urantia Book reader and teacher. He has tought Philosophy/Theology throughout North America for over 30 years and has read the Urantia Book since 1976. In 1990 he attended a 2 year Christian Seminary, Ministerial Program, with full scholarship and was ordained in 1992. He pioneered 2 new ministries and has been the senior minister to three Churches in The US and Canada. Before ministry, GG taught Computer Science, Programming and Systems Analysis in Business College, where he wrote, developed and implemented a highly successful professional training seminar called “Achieving Professional Excellence (APEX).”  T Additionally, GG: Was a delegate to the United Nations, where he assisted in the development of the U.N. World Conference “HABITAT”Was the Community Forum leader for “THE WORLD SYMPOSIUM ON HUMANITY?”Worked with Mother Theresa, Buckminster Fuller, Pir Vilayat Khan,  Marianne Williamson, Barbara Marx Hubbard and many others.Has conducted workshops, Sunday services and seminars with many of the modern spiritual teachers such as Marianne Williamson, Gary Zukov and many, many others. We continue our discussion of a Urantia based religion with scholar Merritt Horn, who recently gave this speech The Most Ineffective Cult The World Has Ever Seen. Merritt sites Urantia Paper 99 to illustrate our problem. It says that the purposes of group religious activities should be to dramatize the loyalties of religion; to magnify the lures of truth, beauty, and goodness; to foster the attractions of supreme values; to enhance the service of unselfish fellowship; to glorify the potentials of family life; to promote religious education; to provide wise counsel and spiritual guidance; and to encourage group worship and human friendship, conserve morality, promote neighborhood welfare, and facilitate the spread of the essential gospel of their respective messages of eternal salvation. It also lists the dangers of formalized religion as fixation of beliefs and crystallization of sentiments; accumulation of vested interests with increase of secularization; tendency to standardize and fossilize truth; diversion of religion from the service of God to the service of the church; inclination of leaders to become administrators instead of ministers; tendency to form sects and competitive divisions; establishment of oppressive ecclesiastical authority; creation of the aristocratic "chosen-people" attitude; fostering of false and exaggerated ideas of sacredness; the routinizing of religion and the petrification of worship; tendency to venerate the past while ignoring present demands; failure to make up-to-date interpretations of religion. Merritt Horn has been reading the Urantia Book since 1968. He co-founded with John Hay the Boulder School for Students of the Urantia Book, is a trustee/instructor for Urantia University Institute, serves on the Standard Reference Text Committee, and is the author of The Call of the Spirit. So now we come to our final episode on Urantia Paper 196, The Faith of Jesus. We've had such a great time reviewing this paper with old friends and Urantia Book scholars. It may have taken 5 weeks to get through it, but it's so rich, it deserves to be savored. So we hope you'll join us again, for the last bite of this sumptuous spiritual feast. In the last few weeks we've read and discussed his exquisite faith, pondering teachings like this, "The faith of Jesus attained the purity of a child's trust. His faith was so absolute and undoubting that it responded to the charm of the contact of fellow beings and to the wonders of the universe. His sense of dependence on the divine was so complete and so confident that it yielded the joy and the assurance of absolute personal security." We've explored his nearness to us, his humility and approachability: "The common people heard Jesus gladly, and they will again respond to the presentation of his sincere human life of consecrated religious motivation if such truths shall again be proclaimed to the world. The people heard him gladly because he was one of them, an unpretentious layman; the world's greatest religious teacher was indeed a layman." We've marveled at his personal religious devotion and service: "He taught men to place a high value upon themselves in time and in eternity. Because of this high estimate which Jesus placed upon men, he was willing to spend himself in the unremitting service of humankind. And it was this infinite worth of the finite that made the golden rule a vital factor in his religion. What mortal can fail to be uplifted by the extraordinary faith Jesus has in him?" This week offers us one more dance with the Universe: "Man's forward spiritual urge is not a psychic illusion. All of man's universe romancing may not be fact, but much, very much, is truth."
