The Parental Nature of God: This week, in the vein of the shows we did on Divine Fatherhood and Motherhood, we will explore why the Urantia Book uses such parental or gender specific designations in its descriptions of Deity when we are told that there is no sex/gender (as we understand it) involved with the First Source and Center or the Trinity personalities. Why is it important to think of God and God's deity associates in terms like these? Is it really necessary to relate to to deity in this way in order to understand these personalities better or more personally? The first Paper of the book is called The Universal Father and the last sentence of the book states, "When all is said and done, the Father idea is still the highest human concept of God." Urantia quotes to consider: (6:8.1) Concerning identity, nature, and other attributes of personality, the Eternal Son is the full equal, the perfect complement, and the eternal counterpart of the Universal Father. In the same sense that God is the Universal Father, the Son is the Universal Mother. And all of us, high and low, constitute their universal family. (174:1.3) The parent is able to view the immaturity of the child in the light of the more advanced parental maturity, the riper experience of the older partner. With the earthly child and the heavenly Father, the divine parent possesses infinity and divinity of sympathy and capacity for loving understanding. Divine forgiveness is inevitable; it is inherent and inalienable in God's infinite understanding, in his perfect knowledge of all that concerns the mistaken judgment and erroneous choosing of the child. Divine justice is so eternally fair that it unfailingly embodies understanding mercy. Please join us as we continue to discuss the parental nature of God and gender specific language about God. Experiencing & Proclaiming the Motherhood of God! This week features a show on The Motherhood of God.  We know we are the Children of God, but gratefully, we are not the children of a single-parent universe. We literally do have two Divine Parents - a Spirit Father and a Spirit Mother. More and more women in spiritual community are heeding the call to minister to their sisters around the world and proclaim this expanded perspective of the good news that God is our Mother as well as our Father. As we realize and appreciate the loving and nurturing personality presence of our Divine Mother Spirit we truly do feel increasingly at home and nurtured within our local universe. Furthermore, when we reflect on these revelatory words from The Urantia Book, we begin to more fully experience the Motherhood of God: If you truly desire to find God, you cannot help having born in your minds the consciousness of the Supreme (God the Mother). As God is your divine Father, so is the Supreme your divine Mother, in whom you are nurtured throughout your lives as universe creatures.  (117:6.2) The local universes are characterized by dual supervision, the beginning of the father-mother concept. The universe father is the Creator Son; the universe mother is the Divine Minister, the local universe Creative Spirit. (33:5.1) The morontia soul of an evolving mortal is really the son of the Adjuster action of the Universal Father and the child of the cosmic reaction of the Supreme Being, the Universal Mother. The mother influence dominates the human personality throughout the local universe childhood of the growing soul. (117:6.5) ...each Creator Son accompanied by a Creative Daughter of the Infinite Spirit, that being who is destined to become the Divine Minister, the Mother Spirit of the new local universe. This week on Cosmic Citizen (www.blogtalkradio.com/cosmiccitizen) we will be talking about the recent Parliament of World Religions which took place in Salt Lake City UTAH a few weeks ago. There were more than 100 Urantia Book Students present at the Parliament with several booths. Among them were representatives from: The Urantia Foundation, The Urantia Book Fellowship, The UAI, Truthseekers, 1God.com and United Urantia Family & Urantia Sacred Arts. Their may be others we don't know of, so if you were there, please to call in and share your experience. Sadly, none of the hosts of CC were able to be there for various reasons and we were disappointed, so we would dearly love to live vicariously through your sharing. The Parliament covered many interesting social issues that are important to religionists, such as, Climate Change, Hate Speech, War and Violence, Income Inequality, Human Rights, Women's Dignity, Emerging Leaders and Indigenous Peoples. Some thought the event was too focused on social issues. There were speakers there like Jane Goodall, Karen Armstrong, Michael Beckwith, Marianne Williamson, and one of our favorite quests on CC, Brian McClaren. There were nearly 10,000 religionists from all over the globe in attendance!  We've lined up a nice group of Urantia Book students who attended to call in this week, some who went to the Parliament for the first time and some who have attended several times. We invite you to join this week's guest, Verner Verass, to discuss cosmic fatherhood. It is intended that we mortals who start our universe journey on an inhabited world come to experience seven fathers as we ascend. Parenting is an essential experience each ascending mortal must have. In this way, the creature can better appreciate the Creator perspective. The Father’s love follows us now and through the endless circle of the eternal ages. As you ponder the loving nature of God, there is only one reasonable and natural personality reaction thereto: You will incresaingly love your maker; you will yield to God an affection analogous to that given by a child to an earthly parent; for as a father a real father, a true father, loves his children, so the Universal Father loves and forever seeks the welfare of his created sons and daughters. Brigitte grew up in the northeastern United States from French Canadian heritage but has spent most of her adult life living in Boulder Colorado where she raised her children and has hosted & attends study groups for The Urantia Book over the decades. She found The Urantia Book in the early 1970s and began studying the revelation at the age of 19.
