The Cosmic Citizen

This week's guest is a long time student of The Urantia Book, Kurt Cira. Kurt has made a personal project of something he calls the ROPE. ROPE stands for Religion Of Personal Experience. The ROPE is something that Jesus gave two brilliant discourses on. Both are in Paper 155: Fleeing Through Northern Galilee, they are The Discourse on True Religion and The Second Discourse on Religion. These two amazing discourses essentially spell out the religion OF The Urantia Book. The authors of the book tell us that Christianity made a mistake by adopting the religion ABOUT Jesus, rather than the religion OF Jesus. The tell us, "Indeed, the social readjustments, the economic transformations, the moral rejuvenations, and the religious revisions of Christian civilization would be drastic and revolutionary if the living religion of Jesus should suddenly supplant the theologic religion about Jesus." This leaves us asking, what is the religion of The Urantia Book? Are Urantians in danger of making a religion about the Firth Epochal Revelation, in the same way Christians evolved a religion about Jesus? We think the answer is certainly yes. We know that all of our planetary helpers, our unseen friends and allies, have been trying to teach us a religion, a universal religion, from the moment civilization began to evolve on this world. The Urantia Book is likewise offering us a religion. What is that religion?  Is it not the Religion of Personal Spiritual Experience as Jesus taught in his wonderful discourses on religion? Is it not the ROPE as Kurt points out? We think it is. Come and join us this week as we grab on to the ROPE and hopefully climb to new heights and insights about what it means to find God, IN yourself, OF yourself and FOR yourself, just as Jesus taught.

Last week we featured two return guests and longtime scholars of The Urantia Book, Jim English and Jim McNelly, who discussed Jesus: The Master Son. This week we'll cover Part II of this series on our Master Son. We discussed the amazing event that Jesus Christ Michael inaugurated, post resurrection, to make a beginning of setting things right on our world. They include setting up a new staff, the Council of 24 one-time humans from Urantia, and sending 12 corps of Master Seraphim to oversee the affairs of this world. He also sent His own Spirit of Truth and the universal outpouring of Father Fragments who indwell every human being. We also marveled that after the baptism of Jesus, there came into existence a new being, the Personalized Adjuster of Jesus, also known as “The Master Son.” And that this new remarkable Son of God has a unique and special relationship with our lovely blue planet, Urantia, and is revealing a new manifestation of the Supreme and perhaps even the Ultimate God to all of the Local Universe of Nebadon. This week we'll continue to explore the reality of the Master Son and how he may be influencing life on earth and again discuss the concept of the evolving new “Prince’s Staff.” Our voluntary stewards, dedicated to revealing the power of the Living God to all on this supposed world of darkness. Jim McNelly designs, builds and finances process-controlled technologies for converting biomass residuals into value-added food, fuel, fiber and fertilizer products. He lives in Minnesota with his wife Linda, their children and grandchildren. Jim English, is retired and has produced and published a beautiful illustrated book on Jesus entitled, The Greatest Stories Ever Told: The Parables of Jesus. He is currently working with a team on a new, fully illustrated book based on the Jesus of The Urantia Book.  Please join us!

Likewise, overspiritual development tends to produce a fanatical and perverted interpretation of the spirit leadings of the divine indweller. Lack of spiritual capacity makes it very difficult to transmit to such a material intellect the spiritual truths resident in the higher superconsciousness. It is to the mind of perfect poise, housed in a body of clean habits, stabilized neural energies, and balanced chemical function—when the physical, mental, and spiritual powers are in triune harmony of development—that a maximum of light and truth can be imparted with a minimum of temporal danger or risk to the real welfare of such a being. This week we will feature two return guests and longtime scholars of The Urantia Book, Jim English and Jim McNelly, who will be discussing Jesus: The Master Son. Jesus once told his apostle, "Nathaniel, you and many others are thus perplexed because you do not comprehend how the natural order of this world has been so many times upset by the sinful adventures of certain rebellious traitors to the Father's will. And I have come to make a beginning of setting these things in order. But many ages will be required to restore this part of the universe to former paths and thus release the children of men from the extra burdens of sin and rebellion." After the baptism of Jesus, there came into existence a new being, the Personalized Adjuster of Jesus, also known as “The Master Son.” This new remarkable Son of God has a unique and special relationship with our lovely blue planet, Urantia, but also is revealing a new manifestation of the Supreme and perhaps even the Ultimate God to all of the Local Universe of Nebadon. We'll explore the reality of the Master Son and how he may be influencing life on earth. We'll also discuss the concept of the evolving new “Prince’s Staff.” A voluntary and little organized corps of humans dedicated to revealing the power of the Living God to all on this supposed world of darkness. A beautiful retreat honoring Mother Spirit was held from Friday, April 22 through Sunday, April 24th in Belton, Texas, at a lovely Retreat Center tucked away in the Hill Country just outside of Austin, Texas. Three facilitators, Sharon Lanier, Kaye Cooper and Mary Huggins, hosted 32 women for a wonderful weekend of learning, spirit, prayer, worship and just getting to know our Mother Spirit better.   These women began a conversation at the retreat and will continue their discussion on what was learned, the fun that was had and how to make Mother Spirit a deeper part of everyone's life. This show will be a recap of the retreat. It was exciting, exhilarating and uplifting for all who attended. As in the retreat, we will cover many things centered around the Divine Mother and what women can do in Her name, including how to be an advocate for God the Mother in our lives, our studies and in our communities. We'll look at how women can step up and step out as leaders, writers and speakers in every way we can, to form groups, circles, friendships and support each other in growing and learning. Also, how to become strong in the spirit and be spirit led. The idea is to join the divine work and workforce and learn to work in cooperation with our brothers and sisters. Mary Huggins, Sharon Lanier and Kaye Cooper are all legendary female movers and shakers in the Urantia Movement. Their combined experience with The Urantia Book is lengthy and impressive. All from Texas, they have served others by offering valuable outreach, publications, study groups and retreats for decades. For years, Kaye and her husband Bill, published a wonderful periodical called The Circles. Sharon ran the Whole Life Book Store. Sharon and Kaye have recently offered retreats on living in the spirit called Joyful Living. All three are amazing and devoted women who are called to serve in the name of the Divine Mother.

Mercy characterizes God's attitude of love for the individual; impartiality motivates God's attitude toward the total. The will of God does not necessarily prevail in the part—the heart of any one personality—but his will does actually rule the whole, the universe of universes.(The Urantia Book paper 12:7.1) The providence of God consists in the interlocking activities of the celestial beings and the divine spirits who, in accordance with cosmic law, unceasingly labor for the honor of God and for the spiritual advancement of his universe children. There is also an organic unity in the universes of time and space which seems to underlie the whole fabric of cosmic events. This week the extraordinary artist, Gary Tonge, will join us to talk about his motivaton and inspiration in creating graphic depictions based on The Urantia Book. His drive to make these works as accurate as they are beautiful and inspirational has relied in part on our own resident scholar, Andre Radatus. Andre and Gary have worked together to present this episode. Gary is serious about recreating the cosmic places described in The Urantia Book and will expound on the importance of a coherent way to use this revelation more deeply; in unity with true science, real spiritual insight, and true philosophical reasoning. Gary's depictions of the Local Universe and Grand Universe are being used all over the web, by Urantia students and many others.  Gary is a professional artist with over 25 years experience in a variety of roles, most recently as a conceptual artist and art director. He is also a published author and writer and is now working as a creative consultant. Gary has been a student of the Urantia Book since 1997 and would consider himself “creatively cosmological” in his initial approach to the the book. “When I first got my hands on The Urantia Book I was immediately enthralled by the comprehensive nature of how it described the Universe. I'd previously been very interested in human cosmology, but had a niggling feeling that it fell short of cosmic truth and became embroiled in the art of intelligent guessing.” He believes through earnest study; The Urantia Book is (among many other things) the revealed truth lens for making sense of the unexplainable observations we see in the cosmos as well as the qualification of the history of our world.
