  • Creating Spiritual Family Life - Part 3
This week hosts Paula Thompson, Christilyn Biek Larson, and André Radatus explore the third installment in this series on the ideals surrounding a solid spiritual culture in families. Highly successful and happy families starts with a foundation of spiritual culture and consistent family practices contributing to the welfare of each member and the family as a whole. What does The Urantia Book have to say on the topic of the origins of wholesome family culture?     "The child must derive his first impressions of the universe from the mother's care; he is wholly dependent on the earthly father for his first ideas of the heavenly Father. The child's subsequent life is made happy or unhappy, easy or difficult, in accordance with his early mental and emotional life, conditioned by these social and spiritual relationships of the home. A human being's entire afterlife is enormously influenced by what happens during the first few years of existence." (177:2.5) "How unfortunate that little children should have their first introduction to concepts of public worship in cold and barren rooms so devoid of the beauty appeal and so empty of all suggestion of good cheer and inspiring holiness! The child should be introduced to worship in nature's outdoors...(167:6.6) Perhaps you have had success in encouraging personal religious growth in your children and family, perhaps not. We invite you to call in and share your experience. Did you foster spiritual culture in your family cooperatively or with difficulty? We have some special callers lined up. Call in!

The apostles learned from Jesus about the kingdom of heaven, and Jesus learned much from them about the kingdom of men, human nature as it lives on Earth. These twelve men represented many different types of human temperament, and they had not been made alike by schooling. 2. The father of the bridegroom had provided plenty of wine for all the guests bidden to the marriage feast, but how was he to know that the marriage of his son was to become an event so closely associated with the expected manifestation of Jesus as the Messianic deliverer? • Family Spiritual Culture: Roots and Ideals
A high, successful, and happiness-promoting family spiritual culture starts with a foundation in good principles and consistent family practices contributing to the welfare of each member and the family as a whole. This week hosts Paula Thompson, Christilyn Biek Larson, and André Radatus explore the second installment in this series on the roots and ideals surrounding a solid family spiritual culture and The Urantia Book’s unique contribution thereto. What does The Urantia Book have to say on the topic of the origins of wholesome family culture?     "The olden concept that God is a Deity dominated by kingly morality was upstepped by Jesus to that affectionately touching level of intimate family morality of the parent-child relationship, than which there is none more tender and beautiful in mortal experience." [2:6.2] "The animals love their children; man — civilized man — loves his children's children." [84:7.10] “The olden ideas of family discipline were biologic, growing out of the realization that parents were creators of the child’s being. The advancing ideals of family life are leading to the concept that bringing a child into the world, instead of conferring certain parental rights, entails the supreme responsibility of human existence.” [84:7.25]] We'll continue to see how "mixed marriages" with nonreaders work well and sometimes don't. Perhaps you have had success in encouraging personal religious growth in your children, perhaps not. We invite you to call in and share your experience. Did you foster spiritual culture in your family cooperatively or with difficulty? Let's talk.

  • Creating Family Spiritual Culture & The Urantia Book
This week hosts Paula Thompson, Christilyn Biek Larson, and André Radatus explore Creating Family Spiritual Culture and The Urantia Book; a new series on The Cosmic Citizen. What does The Urantia Book have to say on the topic of religion and family culture? We'll study various places in the Book which speak about family and how to transmit family religious or spiritual culture to children. Many Urantia Book readers are married to someone who is not a reader of the Book. There may be objections to conveying ideas and ideals from The Urantia Book on religion and other topics to the children. Conversely, there may be insistence on teaching the doctrine and dogma of a spouse's faith of origin or choice. Inevitably, a lesser or greater family culture clash may result. How can both objectives be reconciled and tensions avoided? When these issues are unresolved it can lead spiritual parents to "teach nothing" or "let the kids discover spirituality on their own." This can result in undesirable long-term consequences. We will look at the effect that has on how one shares The Urantia Book's ideas. We'll also look at how to share your spirituality with your kids , and explore how to avoid potential conflicts. We must recognize the spirituality in our children and help them approach talking with peers about spiritual and religious concepts. Perhaps you have had success in encouraging personal religious growth in your children, perhaps not. We invite you to call in and share your experience. Did you foster spiritual culture in your family cooperatively or with difficulty? Let's talk.

  • The Chronicle of Jesus … The Greatest Life Ever Lived
This Saturday we're privileged to interview Larry Mullins and Joan Batson Mullins on The Cosmic Citizen. About 22 years ago, Joan and Larry began a journey together, creating a book: “Chronicle of the Life and Teachings of Jesus ... The Greatest News Stories, 7 BC to AD 30.”  They wanted a means to teach younger Urantians about Jesus with “real time” news stories that were seemingly reported almost day by day. The idea evolved from a few pages passed out every week in their youth study group to the new publication of a completely revised, 240 page, full color adult book with over 350 illustrations. Mo Siegel said of the new book: “What a brilliant book. Hundreds of color pictures, paintings, and maps bring to life the story of Jesus. The book is laid out in newspaper style which makes you feel like you're reading current news. This book really helps me understand the life and teachings of Jesus. Stimulating book for kids and adults alike. But it's not fluff, there are deep pearls of truth embedded in this book. If you lost your Urantia Book and Bible, you could study the teachings of Jesus perfectly well in the Chronicles. A must buy. Great job to the authors. Visually intriguing and spiritually motivating.”    Listeners are invited to ask questions about the new publication coauthored with his wife, Joan. Larry will also entertain questions about his other derivative works from The Urantia Book. These include: “A History of the Urantia Papers,” “The MetaValues Breakthrough,” and “Jesus: God and Man.”
