Andre Traversa was our host back then.   The show is a discussion of Part I of the Urantia Book, The Central and Superuniverses, including the Foreword, with special guest, Chris Halvorson. A student of the Urantia Book since 1990, Chris received his P.H.D. in physics from the University of Colorado in Boulder, and is particularly qualified to discuss the scientific aspects of the revelation. Jesus and the two natives from India—Gonod and his son Ganid—left Jerusalem on a Sunday morning, April 26, A.D. 22. They made their journey according to schedule, and Jesus said good-bye to the father and son in the city of Charax on the Persian Gulf on the tenth day of December the following year, A.D. 23. A question mark continues to hang over how Jesus spent his time between the ages of roughly 4 to about 12, …and then the years between13 and 30.   Today and on the program & next week we will explore this baffling gap of the 18- 20 years that incredibly, nobody knows very much about. Doug is a widely respected leader in the Emergent Christian movement as the founder of Solomon's Porch, a "Holistic Missional Christian Community" in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he has received a wide array of media coverage. As one of the founders of The Emergent Village, a growing, generative friendship among missional Christians seeking to love our world in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Rev. Paggit has also be a co-founder of JoPa Productions, where he and Tony Jones have produced several emergent conferences, Christianity21, Big Tent Christianity, as well as other workshops and seminars, including their popular program: Social Media Bootcamp for Pastors and Ministry Leaders, a one-day workshop that covers ministry uses of blogging, Facebook, and Twitter. Doug sometimes refers to himself as a "Social and Theological Entrepreneur" since he runs several businesses, a non-profit organization, as well as his prolific writing, speaking, and radio hosting career.  We think it is not an inappropriate title.

Last summer Paula Thompson and Christilyn Biek-Larson interviewed author and long-time student of The Urantia Book, Larry Mullins, on his thorough and revealing research in his book entitled, A History of The Urantia Papers; now in its 2nd edition. God has an infinite number of ways to do this. In Jesus of Nazareth he used both physical and spiritual means to bring revelation to us in the form of a person. This week we will be interviewing a special guest, Renjini Rajan, widely known as Angel John to her internet family. If ever there was an earthbound angel, it's her. Renjini Rajan's life was transformed when she accepted Jesus. She lives in a middle class Hindu family at the southern tip of India with her parents. Her younger brother and sister are both civil engineers, Angel, as she prefers to be called, is a college graduate and works at a travel agency in a nearby town. At the age of 19 Angel was a bit reluctantly led to Jesus by her next door neighbor, minister, and mentor, Laly Jose, a woman who has had strong impact on many of those with whom she's had contact. Not long after that Angel saw the film The Passion of the Christ and her interest in Jesus as a youth was stirred -- she looked on the internet to learn more and was led to Truthbook.com. Because of this spirit-led connection she received a Urantia Book and began her study of Part 4 about 4 years ago. The purity of her thinking and her overriding love for Jesus have produced a good following for her Angel John Facebook account and at her blog at AngelJohn.org where she relates personal feelings and interpretations of passages from The Bible and from The Urantia Book. Her strong connection with Jesus, with the Father, with family, with Indian culture, and with truth bring a refreshing and uplifting experience to those she meets. We have also also invited some other international guests to call in, as well as others who also found truth online. This promises to be an inspiring show. This week we are delighted to reprise an archived episode one of our favorite guests, PHYLLIS TICKLE. PLEASE, NO CALL-IN. We loved this interview of Phyllis who truly loves and knows the "pulse" of emergent religion, of  any faith, today. In celebration of her book, Emergence Christianity-What It Is, Phyllis had arranged a national conversation on the emergence of our faith, January 11-12 in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee and she told us all about it. Phyllis, is the founding editor of the Religion Department of PUBLISHERS WEEKLY, the international journal of the book industry, and is frequently quoted in print sources, electronic media, and innumerable blogs and web sites. She is an authority on religion in America and a much sought after lecturer on the subject. In addition to lectures and numerous essays, articles, and interviews, Tickle is the author of over two dozen books in religion and spirituality, such as Emergence Christianity-What It Is, Where It Is Going, and Why It Matters, The Great Emergence, How Christianity is Changing and Why and The Words of Jesus. Tickle began her career as a college teacher and served as Academic Dean to the Memphis College of Art before writing and publishing full time. She has received the Mays Award, a prestigious award for lifetime achievement in writing and publishing, a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Christy Awards, an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from the Berkeley School of Divinity at Yale University, and an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from North Park University. She is a founding member of The Canterbury Roundtable, and serves on a number of advisory and corporate boards. A lay Eucharistic minister and lector in the Episcopal Church, the mother of seven children and, with her physician-husband, makes her home on a small farm in Lucy, Tennessee.
