The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Jason Knight. A professor in SUNY Buffalo State's Department of Geography and Planning, Dr. Knight’s research interest focuses on the physical and social evolution of cities and their constituent neighborhoods, with a particular interest in policy and planning for distressed neighborhoods. A C.O.W.S. listener sent Gus his 2018 report: Walkable and resurgent for whom? The uneven geographies of walkability in Buffalo, NY. Dr. Knight documents how black Buffalo residents are stockpiled in parts of the city where few amenities can be reached on foot. This makes it harder for black people to access employment opportunities, enjoy the health benefits of walking to work or the supermarket, and makes for consistently inefficient travel. This type of refined White Supremacy is just as deadly as Payton Gendron, the teenage White Terrorist who killed 10 black people in an east Buffalo Tops grocery store. We'll get Dr. Knight's thoughts on last week's re-opening of the supermarket just weeks after the massacre. In addition to engaging in "Racial Showcasing Confusion - Dr. Knight blamed Buffalo's black mayor for championing "Neo-liberalism" and ignoring the black resident of the east side, he also accused Gus and callers of asking "slippery," "gotcha" questions. He specifically accused Gus of using a "double negative" in a question (a false charge). After approximately 90 minutes elapsed, Dr. Knight changed his answer to Gus's question about evidence of Whites discontinuing the practice of Racism. Joseph G. Christopher and the 22 Caliber Killings. Two months after the White Terrorist carnage at an east side Buffalo Tops grocery store, where an 18-year-old White Terrorist killed 10 black people, the store has reopened. Unlike the mass shootings in Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut and Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School in Florida where the structure was razed or a new school building erected, Tops got a new paint job and a bigger produce aisle and is back in business. Also in Buffalo, White Race Soldier Payton Gendron was charged with 27 counts of hate crimes and weapons violations. The White teen may face the death penalty if convicted. Whites again demonstrated their commitment to studying the depths of the known universe with the images released from NASA's new Webb telescope. White San Diego enforcement officers continue to buck regulations - insisting that their "religion" prevents them from taking the Covid-19 vaccine as well as the tests. Gus challenges listeners to find instances of any black employees flagrantly disregarding workplace protocols with immunity. A number of listeners reported summertime BBQ's and picnic in the workplace. Once again, this is not the time for non-white people to chow down with workplace colleagues. The Katherine Massey Book Club hosts the 9th study session on Catherine Pelonero's 2017 publication, Absolute Madness: A True Story of a Serial Killer, Race, and a City Divided. White Men from Illinois to Virginia to Texas continue to plot out gun massacres in the U.S. There's been so much carnage, many have totally forgotten that an 18-year-old White man killed almost a dozen black people on the East side of Buffalo, New York this spring. In the same vein, we've barely spoken to anyone (White or non-white) who knew any details about Joey Christopher's terrorist assault on black citizens of New York. Last week, Pelonero stressed how everyone felt awful for Christopher's White mother, Therese. Police executed a search warrant on her residence, but insisted they would complete their probe and exit the house expeditiously. White neighbors and even Joey's former White girlfriend sympathized with the suspected killer. His former girlfriend allegedly felt bad about revealing so much information to officers. Officials in Ft. Benning, Georgia where Christopher was stationed, told investigators that Joey was an average soldier who physically attacked a number of non-white troops who called him names and mocked his masculinity. With a focus on community development, affordable housing, and education policy, Dr. Silverman is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Buffalo. In the weeks since the May 2022 White Terrorist attack on Buffalo, NY's east side, The C.O.W.S. has spoken with many scholars and Buffalo natives to better understand what happened. Hopefully, Dr. Silverman will aid our learning. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS The fireworks and battle simulations of Independence Day were interrupted by White Terrorism in Illinois. Robert E. “Bobby” Crimo III, a 21-year old White Man, opened fire on a Highland Park parade, killing at least six people in the process. Crimo dressed as a Woman to evade police, and contemplated starting a second terrorist attack before he was apprehended. Highland Park is a suspected Racially Restricted Region/"sundown town," with a very low population of black people (1% or less according to the Chicago Tribune). In Richmond, Virginia, enforcement officials arrested two suspects who allegedly planned similar carnage for the Commonwealth state. Ohio's 4th of July celebration switched to protests, anger and curfews over the police killing of Jayland Walker. It's reported that Walker sustained 60 (sixty) wounds, and approximately 90 rounds were fired. The fatal shooting was last month, and evidence from the killing suggests White officers lied about what happened. Across the pond, Prime Minister Boris Johnson is once again facing demands to resign. Former deputy chief whip Chris Pincher is accused of groping males and other acts of debauchery. Pincher was appointed by Johnson, and now both are facing calls to resign. Correction. Johnson submitted his resignation before week's end. Even though Covid-19 remains with us, many employees are being forced back to the office - or were never allowed to leave. Some reports analyze how Covid has changed the work environment. Fashion has apparently undergone a major shift. After two years of hybrid work - or exclusively working from home, many workers have gotten extra comfortable wearing less than professional attire. Now, that many have returned to the office, leisure attire has taken the place of business suits and blazers. Gus recommends that non-white people refrain from wearing footies, pajamas, sweatpants or anything other than what you typically wore to the office before the pandemic. Neely Fuller Jr. once told us that individuals classified as White don't even have to wear clothes. They're White. They've all been poorly informed about convicted White killer Joseph G. Christopher, and none of these White scholars mentioned the murders in their work. This omission is either willful White Supremacy or lazy, slapdash research. Last week, Pelonero began exploring the family life and background of "Joey." His White father was verbally abusive - and some readers wondered if he was physically violent. White Father and son bonded around their love of firearms. Pelonero details how Christopher made no friends when he enlisted at Ft. Benning in Georgia. He wrote semi-literate letters to his mother back in Buffalo about how the other soldiers mocked him, called him a "fa@@*$," and teased him about wetting the bed. "Joey" reportedly stabbed a black male in retaliation for the verbal insults. In fact, he physically assaulted a number of soldiers at Ft. Benning. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Neil Kraus. A professor of politics, geography and international studies at the University of Wisconsin River Falls, Dr. Kraus is Department Chair, Pre-Law Advisor, as well as Chair of the International Studies Program. He pays particular attention to race and politics. Since the White Terrorist slaughter at an east Buffalo Tops grocery store, where 10 black people were killed, Gus has devoted substantial time and energy to studying the history of White Terrorist violence in Buffalo. While digging at the University of Washington library, Gus found Dr. Kraus's book, Race, Neighborhoods, and Community Power: Buffalo Politics, 1934 - 1997. This work provides a comprehensive history of west New York, and the many ways Whites have deliberately maintained and refined the System of White Supremacy in all areas of people activity. However, it fails to mention the 22 Caliber Killer, Joseph G. Christopher and his butchering of numerous black males in Buffalo. The killings occurred in the middle of the time frame this book explores and further evidence some of the major themes of his book. We'll ask Dr. Kraus if this this was a willful omission or personal ignorance. Interestingly, Dr. Kraus's White brother dialed in and stated that Gus put his brother "on the defensive" about his failure to include the .22 Caliber Killings. Speaking of empty symbols, Whites made a big to do of the Emmett Till anti lynching bill at the beginning of the year. A decades old arrest warrant for Carolyn Bryant Donham, the White Woman who falsely accused Till of violating her, was discovered in Mississippi. If any one should be charged using the shiny, new statue, it should be this Race Soldier. We'll hear about the Supreme Court decision to overturn New York state's ban on concealed carry firearms. Governor Kathy Hochul anticipates this change will result in more firearm deaths in the "empire state."
