This is probably one of my favorite lives I’ve done in awhile. The reason being is for how applicable it is to ALL of us.

So many times we lose ourselves in the projections of others. We are no longer able to understand what is our shadow and what is theirs. This leads to confusion, stagnation, and even more shadow.

We live in a world that has made spirituality extremely accessible without proper guidance and protection. Anyone can go be in a plant ceremony or obtain a reiki certification. What is missing most right now is Spiritual Integrity. People are obtaining the IMAGE of a practice but not the ESSENCE.

The essence is forged through understanding the sacrifice that’s required to hold that medicine. That essence requires time, dedication, and deep diclipline. Unfortunately, we don’t have many elders or teachers who are upholding spiritual integrity. Instead, they are promoting the mass consumption of certifications, ceremonies, etc.

We don’t need more of this, we need more Spiritual Integrity. And how we align ourself with that is by doing our shadow work. It’s by understanding where are we bypassing, avoiding, and abusing our shadows? Where are we neglecting the work that must be done?

Shadow work is foundational to holding medicine in a reverent and good way. Integrity is forged in the shadow and we must preserve the sacredness of these teachings through our shadow work. It is how we make sure we aren’t abusing this work.

There is a big misconception around “what is shadow work”. Many believe it is journal prompts, identifying attachment styles, and looking at the dark parts of self. This is just the surface of shadow work.

Shadow work is a traditional, ancestral, indigenous practice of diving deep into your spirit and understanding what needs to be confronted. This touches on identity, ancestral cycles, the body, relationships, and so much more.

You first must understand what is shadow to then understand the second part of this, HOW do shadows move. This second part is not spoken on nor taught. The fixation on identifying WHAT keeps us stuck. We must also understand the WHY. 🩸⚡️🪶

The medicine wheel is a way of life. It shows us how spirits move, how to move with the natural cycles of the universe, and how to hold medicine with reverence.

Many of us have the belief that we are disconnected from spirit, ancestors, and medicine. I’m here to tell you that you’re not disconnected, you’re mislead.

We must go beyond the statement of “I’m disconnected” and truly understand the root of this shadow. It is our doubt. Our expectations of spirit. Our fear of the responsibility.

This is a potent one full of accountability checks, reverence, and most importantly a challenge to your shadows of comfort. Many people use the words “unsafe” and “harm” as a way to dodge accountability from their contribution to pain and shadow. We must cultivate discernment and true understanding of medicine in order to heal in a good way.
