The Credible Teacher

I document a conversation I had with a student teacher and the difference in perspectives we have at different points in our careers. Also, I tell students I love them and reflect on why.

I document a rant I went on about how the process of gluing papers in a notebook is more connected to what students will get out of life/school than the curriculum that's covered in school.

I share the 68th verse of Tao Te Ching and reflect on what it means to me as a teacher (leader). I've found that this 'book of wisdom' has helped bring some perspective on what it is I'm doing as a teacher and how I can change my viewpoint on lots of issues teachers face.

I document a reflection on an equity activity I was a part of today and how, as individuals, we have the opportunity to start with ourselves in order to make the world a better place to live for all.

Nope! Ha...I document a conversation I had with some students from last year about some fun memories and why it's pointless to dwell on the past.

I document a story about how I reacted in frustration and how 'making things right' is the best way to learn and be a more credible teacher...I think.

I provide an update on 'the year of the relationship' and reflect on my lunch with a student today and how important common sense is in building credibility.

I reflect on an article I read that was written for 'user researchers'. I share some ideas I had about being a teacher and what I could do with the podcast down the road.

I share a thought I had about imagining myself as an older (more experienced) teacher and responding to students differently (more patiently). I reflect on the fact that I'm growing myself and realizing that I make these changes for myself. No one is making me do this.

I read some thank you letters I've received from students to remind myself (and you) that the opportunity to impact our students is soooooo much greater than we can imagine! Enjoy.
