This episode features Sarah Pang, a professional tennis player who began her career at the "ridiculously late stage" of 19. Her extraordinary determination is fueled by a "real tangible private way" of experiencing God's love, which she describes as the "fuel that has kept her going all these years". Despite being deeply Christian, she openly acknowledges occasionally swearing. Sarah, a former national-level badminton player (top three in her age group in Singapore), switched to tennis due to "too much politics" in badminton.
Her journey involved immense personal sacrifices, including working three jobs while attending university and later living on just €200 a month in Spain as a dormitory warden a period she transparently calls "trauma". Overcoming Singapore's "strong shame culture", Sarah successfully crowdfunded her career, transforming her fear of asking for help into an "invitation" for others to be part of her success. Her mindset shifted from viewing challenges as burdens to seeing them as a "privilege and a gift" a "get to" attitude towards playing and fundraising. Sarah emphasises sustainability, self-nurturing, and pursuing "what is it that makes you come alive?".
