Where do I even begin?

Eleven years at Adored Salon is pretty mind blowing to me. I did not ever expect to be where we are today. There have been so many great times. There have been a whirlwind of challenges. The Curl Tour is me, Jennifer Janisch, sharing my knowledge as a curly hair/ hair extension specialist with other hair stylists that want to elevate their career with the knowledge of texture.  

My experience in the hair industry starts at the age of 12. I started assisting my mom's friend at her salon shampooing her clients. I went to hair school at the age of 16 and started working full time in a hair salon when I was 17. (For full details go back and listen to Episode 1 of the Curly Girl's Obsessions, Who is Jennifer Janisch?) I became a curl specialist 15yrs ago and an extension artist 14yrs ago. I created my own line of naturally textured hand-tied hair 6 yrs ago and starting selling them to stylists across the US 4 1/2 yrs ago and now we are currently in 6 other countries. 

I soon realized the lack of understanding for textured hair after selling to other stylists and knew I needed to start educating. I started with online classes and then moved into one on one classes. Then I thought it would be fun to take on the road. So here we are! 

My team and I are traveling to other salons teaching how to install hand-tied hair extensions with the Adored Signature Install Methods for textured hair. Then there is The Blueprint to an Adored Signature Curly Install. We show how to properly install curly hand-tied hair from start to finish.

When I think back on 2023 there were so many things to learn from. The salon industry went a little quiet towards the last half of the year. When all 3 of your businesses revolve around hair you must course correct and cut costs. What I did not realize was the treasures I would uncover in the process. There was so much that I did not want to do but had to do. Now I am over the hump of irritation and moving forward in the direction of growth. You know it’s not everyday you get to teach a skill you know so well to someone who does not know anything about it. It’s so humbling. I think learning through their eyes gave me a perspective I needed to see once again in my life. We can do things over and over and learn them so well it becomes second nature. We forget how hard the beginning was. We forget what the fear felt like. We forget what the driving force was to get motivated to take on something new. Sometimes you get lucky enough to feel it again. This is my challenge to you with the new year upon us. Scare yourself with your goals and life ambitions. Scare yourself to be more.
