Dr. Arienne Ashby is a physical therapist that specializes in orthopaedics and pelvic health, and has developed a particular passion for helping mothers (new, old and everything in between) bridge the gap between traditional healthcare and their fitness and activity goals.
In today’s interview we talked about so many gold nuggets, which every mom, or someday to be mom need to hear.
Dr. Arienne Ashby talks about the missing link in the health care system, and how it has been accepted as “normal” when women are experiencing physical challenges after giving birth.
“We have moms, sisters, and friends saying “Hey girl, you are going to pee on yourself for the next 60 years. Good luck to you”. They are telling new moms that they will not be able to run or jump anymore. And I don’t think that that as a 25, 30, or 40 year old mom is very reassuring. I don’t want here as a 30 year old that I am destined to pee on myself if I want to be active,” says Dr. Arienne Ashby.
