I love podcasts, that's how this became a podcast, so I figured that maybe I should talk about some of the other podcasts that I've been listening to.
Another Dad Ball Podcast! I think I called it Sporting Chance by mistake. That's why you have tryouts, to weed out those mistakes.
Teachers have them too, just like athletes. I bemuse about the differences and similarities, and compliment the Master's for still being stuffy.
A quick update episode running down the latest and greatest from the newsletter, including the story about why Italy has blue uniforms.
Plus, we get to add state champion to the resume!

For this special episode, I had a chance to sit down with Gary Chupik, a mindset professional who helps professional athletes, high performance business people, and apparently me!
We go through Gary's background, changing careers, faith, family, mindset, and the power of making progress. He also shares one thing every person can do heading into 2026 to unlock an edge.
You can find Gary on his Instagram, his website, and his Linkedin to connect and find a new edge with the power of unlocking your mindset.

It isn't about athletic glory anymore, but it still can be, maybe. I'm in PT and other things that I'm changing to fit dad schedules.
Building a life around teaching, fatherhood, coaching, and being a husband means taking care of yourself comes last, but is also even more important. I'm talking about some of the little things that factor into that practice.
When you think of football dynasty families, you probably go right to the Mannings. I want you to think about the Rivers family, too.
It started with Steve Rivers at Mississippi State, was made famous by Philip at NC State and the NFL, and now rests in the hands of Gunnar, a 5-star prospect with offers before his junior high school season.
An extra bonus, a small reflection on the Stanley Cup Finals, and why the Panthers mini "dynasty" is important.
One of the things that happens when you become a dad is...you start thinking about other dads. For me, that means I'm thinking about famous sports dads.
It's a brand new segment here, maybe even a theme? I'm telling the story of one dad who has made an impact on the sports world, and trying not to get choked up while doing it!

Any day now, I'll have my own child to start teaching lessons to, and I think I've narrowed down the 4 I'll want to share the most with my son or daughter. After all of my own experience I hope that I'll have figured out a way to explain everything better for them.

The subtitle episode could be "Because I'm having a kid", as Matt explores how hindsight mixed with looking towards the future has helped him reach a newer, clearer, perspective on his sports career.
There's also lamentations about the tragic death of the Gaudreau brothers and their connection to the South Jersey hockey community.

In this episode Matthew draws inspiration from the Olympic hopefuls and translates it to high school sports, somehow.
He also talks about how coaching always provides new insights, even for people who consider themselves experts.
