The Sixers found their man in Nick Nurse. Good start right? Speaking of starts, Danny Briere and Keith Jones made their first big move, in a multi team-multi player deal sending Ivan Provorov packing. They also have an important draft coming up and I take a look at two of the safer options for the Flyers to pick, plus the Phillies are in bounce back mode. Finally we've got product reviews and a brief tease of new!? ideas.
The cards this week come from Colt Collectibles, located in Peddler's Village, and the beer from Ship Bottom Brewery.

The Sixers have brought the blues to the Philadelphia sports scene. Their Game 7 loss in the 2nd round of the NBA playoffs brought disappointment, and a quick firing of Doc Rivers. The Flyers though did their best to start their own journey of rebirth, bringing in new management with Keith Jones as President of Hockey Operations, and Danny Briere as GM.
The beer of the week is Violet, You're Turning Violet! a farmhouse ale from Eight & Sand Beer Company featuring blueberry and lemons, a great combo in both pancakes and beer. Plus if we're having a beer, why not open some cards. Some of the best of '91 in the O-Pee-Chee baseball collection!

The Flyers are finished (thankfully), the Phillies are just getting started, the Sixers are trying to catch fire in the playoffs, and the Eagles are making record QB contract deals.
I've also added to my card collection and hit Brotherly Love card show, and got my fiancé in on the action.
The beer making it all so much better is Neshaminy Creek Pushing Daisies, a kolsch for spring that really hits the spot.

A classic 4 for 4 rundown on this episode! The Eagles are trying to rebuild a Super Bowl team after coming up just short. Who is staying, who is going and are they poised to repeat? The Phillies might be in for a hot start thanks to their 8 players in the World Baseball Classic, but will that impact the dog days? The Sixers are playing like they're gunning for a #1 seed and Joel Embiid is playing like and MVP. Will they follow championship suit? Finally the Flyers are playing down to the level of a bottom feeder team. Chuck Fletcher is out and Danny Briere is in. Have they finally set the team into a rebuild, or is this a temporary fix?
The beer of the episode is from Magnify Brewing Company. Appropriately we have the Shamrock Shake, a smoothie sour with lactose conditioned on vanilla ice cream, pandan vanilla, and peppermint. Also it's BRIGHT green. The pack of the day is a Fleer 93-94 PowerPlay Series 2. This set had crazy dimensions and lots of fun international pulls.

The Birds are back in the Bowl! The Philadelphia Eagles facing the Kansas City Chiefs, and Matt runs through far too many prop bets. Plus NBA trade deadline for the Sixers, and checking in the Flyers post all star break. The Phillies made a move just to show they have a heartbeat, but it's February. Baseball is sleeping. However some '91 O'Pee-Chee baseball cards are finally out of their pack!
Today's beer is Nugget Nectar. Another Troegs annual release, this is their fresh hop beer. A limited run, but worth planning for annually.

Back again, in the middle of the gigantic winter push where football, basketball, and hockey are all playing simultaneously and baseball just elected a new Hall of Fame "class". Plus an opening of the Topps Heritage pack, and a cracking of an Athletic Brewing No Grits, No Glory near beer, because it's still January and why not feature an almost no ABV option?

The Phillies are finally back in the playoffs! Can they handle the Cardinals? Do they even need to for the season to be considered a success?
Plus the Eagles are a win away from eyebrow raising territory, and we're going to give some time to the Flyers and Sixers before we rush to any judgement ok?
The beer is "Ring The Bell" and unfiltered pilsner from Conshohocken Brewing, named especially for Phillies success, plus another pack of Panini Diamond Kings got opened up!

Had to do a quick run around the Philly sports scene in this one. The Eagles were doing fantastic things, but are they truly an elite team? Time is really needed to tell, based on the schedule ahead. The Phillies are prime candidates for a collapse, but good leadership from the Big 3 (Schwarber, Harper, and Realmuto) are going to be the arbiters of making sure that doesn't happen. The Flyers also are watching their season flounder away, and it hasn't even started.
We're getting back to the Panini Diamond Kings Box, and seeing the cards lean retro. Beer of the week is from Marlowe Artisanal Ales, brewed in collaboration with Coles Road Brewing. It's a double IPA brewed with Citra hops, honey, and wild yeast picked off a flower. That's just fun and since I'm on a science kick.

It is fantasy football season. This episode is dedicated to that practice. Two drafts in the books, and a dynasty team organized we'll go over draft strategy, why I always take QB's last, and what I'm expecting from the teams.
From there we go over 5 cards I bought at The National down in Atlantic City, as well as the experience and the next steps to building the collection.
Washing it all down is another Eight and Sand Beer. A podcast favorite brewery made one of my favorite styles in an Italian Pilsner. It's called Gabagool and it tastes nothing like capicola.

Even though it is the summer, there has been a lot of drama in Flyers-land. From moves made, to moves not made, a new coach, and the 2022 NHL draft, the feeling of change seems to be hanging in the air for the team. Matt breaks down what he's seeing and feeling and why he's hesitantly optimistic for the future, but not this season.
In openings, we're still knocking off our 2022 Panini Diamond Kings box and cards as "art" which this box and style very much favors.
For the beer of the show, we've got last year's Mad Elf variety from Troegs. A yearly holiday favorite, it also it a beer that is frequently collected to age for some drinkers, so we're taking a pop after 8 months of sitting, for a small Christmas in July celebration.
