THE DAILY ARTICLE FOR AUGUST 2, 2019

Mario Lopez first became famous for his role as A.C. Slater on the show Saved by the Bell. He has since carved out a solid career as the co-host of Access Hollywood and is a go-to for many people on understanding Hollywood trends as a result.

However, after comments he made in June on The Candace Owens Show resurfaced, Lopez has been in the news for a very different reason.

While on the show, Owens brought up the trend among many celebrities to allow their children to pick their own gender. Lopez replied, "I just think it’s dangerous as a parent to make that determination then." The LGBTQ+ backlash was vocal and swift.

Given that the Bible speaks far more definitively than Lopez regarding the fallacies inherent to much of the transgender movement, those of us who choose to believe the word of Scripture on this subject should not be surprised when we face opposition.

So how should we respond when there appears to be so little room for genuine dialogue?

Archaeologists working in what they believe to have been the biblical city of Bethsaida claim to have recently found the Church of the Apostles, a fifth-century church supposedly built over the home of the disciples Peter and Andrew.

What relevance can this story have beyond possibly piquing our interest for a few minutes or offering a welcome distraction from the other news of the day?

What more is there to say? Another fatal shooting has occurred in America, this time at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in California. The shooter started around 5:41 on Sunday evening, and, by the grace of God and the accuracy of festival security, stopped shooting less than a minute later. Yet that was all the time it took to forever alter the lives of countless individuals. So, where do we go from here?

THE DAILY ARTICLE FOR JULY 26, 2019

A monument donated to the local police department of Tega Cay, South Carolina, is making headlines today after the City Council chose to remove it only a few weeks after it was put in place.

The monument contained a reference to Matthew 5:9, in which Jesus stated, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God,” as well as a prayer asking the Lord for courage, strength, and compassion, among other qualities.

After complaints began to come into the City Council, officials decided to scrub the word Lord from the prayer, before recently deciding to simply remove the monument for the time being.

In today’s world, the quickest results often come from the loudest voices. So, does that mean we too should strive to be the loudest voice on a given issue? Would the kingdom be better served if Christians were more vocal about the times when it seems like people act in a way that runs counter to the gospel? Possibly. But how do we determine which path is best for a given situation?
