Joe Hollins, a man without a home, saved Claudia Jimenez and her two children from an apartment fire. This story serves as a cultural parable as Dr. Jim Denison cites Pete Buttigieg on the culture wars, Tim Keller’s steadfast commitment to biblical orthodoxy, C. S. Lewis’ “Christianity and” heresy, and Billy Graham’s inspiring words on our need to set God’s word as the foundation to our lives.

San Francisco has designated D’Arcy Drollinger as the city’s first “drag laureate,” and Pride Month begins next week. Pastor Tim Keller met his Savior on Friday, May 19, 2023, at the age of seventy-two after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. We can learn much from his enduring wisdom, and we can draw inspiration from his commitment to serving Christ in one of the most challenging environments for biblical truth in America. But there is another way we can benefit from Dr. Keller’s ministry, one that was brought into sharp relief by the passing on the same day of another cultural icon.

In anticipation of their tenth annual Pride Night, the LA Dodgers originally invited the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group that also goes by the name LA Dragnuns, to be part of the event. After pushback from those who rightly consider them to be an anti-Catholic hate group, they rescinded that offer, and the ensuing controversy has left people on both sides of the issue angry with them. As such, there are two important lessons we can take from their story.
