In this hour we revisit a painful story of forced sterilization we’ve been discussing over the years on this show. The latest is that yesterday (Wed) The “Her Rights Initiative” wrote an open letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa asking him to institute fair and adequate compensation to black HIV-positive women, who are victims of forced sterilisation. They read the letter out during a press briefing in Sandton calling for among other things, immediate mental health treatment and treatment of side effects and complications as a result of the forced sterilisations. Kopanong is among several municipalities in the province where workers have to bear the brunt of the poor state of finances.
