Eskom says the power situation in the country has reached a very critical point. Spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says the power system remains constrained even though seven generating units that went offline yesterday are now producing power. He says diesel and water reserves are still very low resulting in the need for loadshedding. Stage-three loadshedding will begin at this hour nationwide until 11pm. Stage-3 loadshedding calls for three-thousand megawatts to be shed from the grid nationally.

A Pretoria teacher, who is alleged to have inappropriately touched learners at Valhalla Primary School in Centurion, is facing seven counts of sexual assault. The 55-year-old man, who can't be named because he has not pleaded, appeared briefly in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Friday. Politicians and social activists on are pleading with parents, teachers, pupils and government to pull together to make schools safer. Higher Education Minister, Naledi Pandor, says she expects students at all institutions of higher learning to be in their lecture rooms today. Pandor met with all presidents of student representative councils in Pretoria over the weekend. This follows several protests at institutions of higher learning last week leading to suspension of classes in some institutions. Last week the Minister called on students' organisations to focus on real concerns and make every effort to resolve problems without disrupting the academic programme. Pandor says her statement was misinterpreted
