Minister of Small Business Development Ms Lindiwe Zulu in partnership with the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Africa will, on Monday, 12 November 2018, launch the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) at Africa’s first Start-Up Campus 22 on Sloane, in Bryanston, Gauteng. Speaking of Global Entrepreneurship week, Minister Zulu said, “Global Entrepreneurship Week is a great platform for entrepreneurs, especially the youth and women, to engage with entrepreneurial activities that will assist their businesses. As government, we see entrepreneurs as national assets to be cultivated, motivated and remunerated to the greatest possible extent. Entrepreneurs can change the way we live and work.” She joins us now to share initiatives that have been undertaken during the course of this week, and beyond.

Parliament's joint constitutional review committee yesterday adopted a report which recommends that section 25 of the Constitution be amended to explicitly allow for land to be expropriated without compensation. Meanwhile, Black First Land First (BLF) leader, Andile Mngxitama, says there will be no amendment of the constitution. He says President Cyril Ramaphosa and EFF Leader Julius Malema "lied to the landless".

In an article where he reflects on what has gone wrong with the ANC, Ben Turok - Former African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament says ”We face two major crises: the crisis in the economy and the moral crisis in public life”
He continues on to day “we have created a black bourgeoisie on a scale that means inequality between black people is now greater than inequality overall. At the same time, the top 1% of our wealthy are increasing their wealth, while the majority are worse off.” He joins us now to unpack this position further.

There is an on-going debate over the role of online activities in the radicalisation process. However, much of this debate has focused on Western countries; less is known about patterns of online radicalisation in Africa and about the extent to which African national governmental strategies focus on addressing this issue.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) commissioned RAND Europe to explore social media use and online radicalization in Africa as part of its 'Regional Project on Preventing and Responding to Violent Extremism in Africa'.
RAND Europe's study examined the links between social media use and online radicalization in seven African countries: Cameroon, Chad, Kenya, Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda. With a focus on ISIL, al-Shabaab and Boko Haram - three of the most lethal Islamist militant groups worldwide - the analysis also looked at governmental efforts to address this problem and outlines recommendations for policy and programming.

The ANC has expressed its disappointment at the criticism that former Public Enterprises minister Barbara Hogan has levelled against its deployment policy. In her submission to the Zondo Commission on State Capture, Hogan accused the ANC of interfering in the appointment of board members of state-owned enterprises and questioned the relevance of the governing party's deployment committee. Speaking to me earlier in the week about what constitutes an effective board; Advocate Paul Hoffman stressed that Cadres, who are members of the ANC Are About 1 Million From About 57 Million citizens in the country. He continued to say if you are given a job because of your loyalty to the party, no matter how suitable you are, you are going to be, then you are going to be in a conflict of interest situation, every time what promotes the revolution is in contrast with the constitution.

The interviews for a new National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) are underway at the Union Buildings in Pretoria. President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed a panel, led by Minister Jeff Radebe, to shortlist and interview candidates and makes three recommendations to him. The process to interview candidates for the position has been set down for three days and will conclude this Friday. Rosie has over 13 years of experience and some of her best work can be seen on the new series of BBC Earth's Dynasties. She has spent the last 4 years on location in east Senegal, filming a single group of chimpanzees in a remote part of the country, directing producing the 'Chimps episode'. Since the huge voter turnout in the 1994 national elections we’ve seen a steady decline, with millions of South Africans becoming disillusioned and not participating in elections every five years. However, a new far-left party has successfully registered recently and will participate in the 2019 elections. It is the NUMSA initiated Socialist Revolutionary Workers Party (SRWP) that came about when the union adopted a few ground-breaking political resolutions at its special congress in December 2013. It’s been nearly five years since the “NUMSA Moment” and in today’s show we assess what the SRWP is all about and its prospects in next year’s elections.
