Standard Bank's head of compliance, Ian Sinton says one of the bank's chief executives was summoned to Luthuli House to explain its decision to terminate Gupta-linked bank accounts. Sinton says the meeting was attended by former ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe, his deputy Jessie Duarte, and the party's economic transformation sub-committee head Enoch Godongwana. Sinton says he and Standard Bank management were accused of taking instructions from handlers in Stellenbosch to close the Gupta accounts. The Global Campaign for Education say they are concerned about a new proposed initiative the Education Outcomes Fund. The 'Education Outcomes Fund' seeks to raise $1 billion to scale up proven and / or innovative services from non-State actors by paying for the results achieved. The Global Campaign for Education says while they acknowledge the global education crisis and the need for a radical shift in financing education, the commodification of this basic human right deflects from achieving inclusive quality education for all.
