Rory Gallocher tells us about SHRA’s approval of R1bn worth of social housing projects that will enhance the national social housing programme. These projects, spread in four provinces – Gauteng, Free State, Eastern Cape and Western, will yield 4322 units within the next three years. Social housing is a government subsidised rental programme aimed at benefiting people who earn between R1500 -R15000, to enable them to be closer to areas of economic activity.
