God is good. Goodness is part of His character. Goodness is at the heart of all He is. He is not just mighty, not just powerful, not just eternal; He is good.

God’s purpose is always good.

God does good because His is good. When God completed creation, He declared that it was very good.

It is God’s goodness that sent His only Son into this world, and His goodness that brought about your salvation. 

Many people are quick to blame God when bad things happen.  The insurance industry uses the term “acts of God” to describe destruction caused by weather or unforeseen forces. Many see God as the angry judge who condemns all they do. They don’t see God’s goodness in the rain, in the beauty of the sunset, or the marvels of creation.

God’s goodness is grand and personal. 

God pours out his goodness on all of His creation. Matthew 5:45 says that He causes the sun to shine and the rain to fall on the righteous and the unrighteous. God’s goodness flows out across the world. His goodness blessed those who love Him and those who hate Him. He offers His mercy to all who will come to Him.

The greatest promise in the Bible is the promise of Eternal Life. It was this promise that compelled early Christians to share the "Good News of the Gospel" to the then known world. It was this promise that empowered Christians throughout history to give their lives for the sake of the Gospel. It is this promise that brings peace and satisfaction into your heart today.

Imagine for a moment you are in a race. This is not a short dash but an extended marathon. As the race progresses, you feel like giving up. You just aren't sure you have what it takes to compete.

As you begin each new lap, you aren't sure if you will be able to make it through to the next. However, as you come around the last curve you see the stands filled with people cheering you on. They clap, yell, and encourage you to keep going. Knowing the stands are filled with supportive friends, you move forward, you find new strength and focus to complete the race. You keep going because you know with their support you can make it to the finish line.

What God began in your life, He will complete. It's easy to think the Christian life is all about what I need to do. I need to study the Bible more, I need to pray more, I need to share my faith, I need to be more sensitive and the list goes on and on and on. However, the Christian life is really about God working in me.

If you looked back on your walk with God, I'm sure you would see how God has worked in your life, time and time again. There were times when you drifted away from Him, and He used a situation or a person to bring you back to Himself. There was a financial need that God met at the very last minute. Even through the most difficult times, God was working in your life.
